If the original surveyors were a bunch of drunks like they were in in North Western Calif, Martinsville could be in North Carolina

I bought a like new 1,000 watt Honda Generator last week for $450 for short duration power outages which we get each winter. I plan to buy a 5,000 watt unit before we have the big earthquake or worse yet, a ice storm due to global swarming and have a switch installed at the meter. Someone told me they just have a double male extension cord and plug it into the dryer outlet and they turn the main circuit breaker off so they don't feedback into the system and fry a lineman or two...

3 All New 2007 Ford Championship Level Pace Cars Unveiled

Three “championship-level” 2007 Ford vehicles – the Ford Shelby GT500, Ford Edge and Ford F-150 FX2 Sport – have been selected to pace the three Ford Championship Weekend races at Homestead-Miami Speedway, site of NASCAR’s season-ending events.

Dan Davis, director of Ford Racing Technology; Curtis Gray, president of Homestead-Miami Speedway; and Matt Kenseth, the 2003 NASCAR Nextel Cup champion and a contender for this year’s title, were all on hand at the race track today to help unveil the three pace vehicles in a ceremony before open NASCAR testing at the track.

“We wanted to select championship level production vehicles to pace the Ford Championship Weekend, and we picked three of the best,” said Davis, in making the announcement. “When you talk about vehicles that combine bold design and the kind of performance needed to lead the NASCAR field on track, these three vehicles are the place to start.”

Sweet!

I always thought the 68 Shelby (won a few trophies in one in my college days) and the 68 Talladega Torino were the nastiest lookin Fords ever built. I may have to reconsider that opinion.

Sounds like a good plan. You will need an external connection point to plug yer generator into the house.

I'd avoid the suicide cord tho, unless yer really carefull.
And that method is only practical if ya have a 220 volt dryer. Otherwise only half of the electric panel will be fed.

Since most generators are tuned to provide 125 volts of quasi electricity ya have ta be carefull of usage and application. Most electronic devices aint too keen on that waveform unless they use an AC adapter. A microwave oven will groan unless most of the big stuff is off.

A 5K watt generator will provide a max of 40 amps of power. So check the rating tags on yer appliances and add up the essentials. My suggestion is not to exceed 75% of capacity.

Never run the generator in an attached garage and never in the rain unless it's covered with an old card table or such.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for putting up this weeks race Steve.

Martinsville, crash bangfest!!

Here is one of Jr's friends ideas during the XM show last night. Jr was not there because they tape on Tuesday and he was in Homestead testing.

All cars should be painted black and then peel the number off at the end to see who won. They think it will help with TV ratings. LOL

Just borrowed it from Norm, and though I don't often stop in and say hi, it is a great place to just lurk.

Morning!

just sentimental I guess, besides there is a shortage of quality competitive drivers in NNC.

I heard on WFO last night if he performs well he could be a contender for the 88, or the remaining red bull ride.

not to say Ward would win many but he'd definitely spice things up.

I'd vote to put him in the 88 and hope yates could sway Caterpillar for a sponsorship...

I just enjoy hearing Ward say Cattapilla

The Gray Bug-eyed Trashman's 95.878 is good for 5th of 17
