Pray for President Bush - Day 2213

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers,
Intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone -
For kings and all those in authority,
That we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
Who wants all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.

I Timothy 2: 1-4

Dear Heavenly Father, Omnipotent and Holy God, we come to You today with the desire in our hearts to be obedient to You and Your laws. We know that You have given to us the task of praying for those around us, but specifically to those in authority over us, and we bow before Your throne at this hour with our requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving.

Father, we are thankful for Your mercy upon this nation in giving us a leader who is a follower of Your Son Jesus Christ, and we bring President Bush before You, lifting him up and asking You to make his burden light as he seeks to follow You with his life. Help him to worship You with all his heart and all his soul and mind and strength as he serves this nation as our President and Commander in Chief. Keep him vigilant in prayer and in study of Your word that he might know the path You have set in front of him. Continue to bring him peace and joy and help him to sense that Your people faithfully pray for him and support him in moments when Satan seeks to discourage him. We would also pray for Laura, that she might be the ballast and support that he needs each hour of each day. Keep them both safe as they travel across the country during this all important campaign and bless them in Your mercy and love.

We pray for our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who are serving this great country; especially those who are in harm's way. Lord, we know that the sacrifice is great, even at times the sacrifice of their lives, and we ask You to blanket them with Your protection. Father, we pray for guidance for each of the military leaders who are leading us through this conflict. Grant them wisdom as to how to best achieve victory in the swiftest manner, and how to quell the violence. Lead those who are seeking out the enemy; those who seek to terrorize and destroy everything that is good - and help them to find and destroy those who are seeking to wreak havoc on the people of Iraq. We pray, dear Lord, for Your will in the entire region, and we ask that, through the newfound freedom in the countries of Iraq and Afghanistan, that the people of those countries, once in utter darkness, will find the Light in Your Son Jesus, as the Gospel is allowed to spread.

Finally Father, we do continue to pray for this nation, begging Your forgiveness for our sins, and we pray with great fervency for the swiftly approaching election, that the people who honor You and live in godliness and holiness might be elected, and that those in Congress and in all areas of authority would find the strength to lead in righteousness and not fear of political fallout. We thank You for each leader who does lead through Your power, and we pray that the eyes of the American people would be opened to those candidates who speak truth. We are thankful for the incredible abundance of this great and blessed land, and we seek to honor You with our words and thoughts and deeds. We pray all these things, believing in the answers to prayers which will surely come, through the precious Name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, Amen!

All glory, honor, power and blessings to the Most High Who delights in answering the prayers and petitions of His children.

We confess, Father, that with You all things are possible.

We believe that the light is getting brighter and brighter for those who choose to follow Your ways and darker and darker for those who make another choice. Let the world see our President's good works and shining light and give glory to You. Holy Spirit, we thank You for shining Your light in the darkness so that the Only Way can be seen. Convict their hearts concerning righteousness and send Your Word to bring them healing.

In the mercy and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, amen.
