The figures are stark. An average of 112 cars a day have been torched across France so far this year and there have been 15 attacks a day on police and emergency services. Nearly 3,000 police officers have been injured in clashes this year. Officers have been badly injured in four ambushes in the Paris outskirts since September. Some police talk of open war with youths who are bent on more than vandalism.

Because they are French and not American. They know that if they were American, that crap wouldn't be allowed, but as they are French, thay have to take it.
And that's the main reason the French hate Americans.

The deal in France has something to do with the complex inter-relationships among the way you trade in a used car for a new one, make a claim on your automobile insurance, and avoid taxes on the benefit of the deal.
It's been some time but some of the older threads have full descriptions of the process that leads 112 Frenchmen per day to torch their old cars ~ and almost always in nasty neighborhoods ~ even if they don't live there.
Back during the disturbances the daily burn rate rose to over 400 cars. Everybody in the country took advantage of the auto insurance system (which I think seems to be state run).

Yes, there were protests ~ and in Islamic areas ~ that is, really nasty neighborhoods.
The protests provided cover for a higher than normal burn rate.
Remember, the French are burning their cars and filing insurance claims for the losses with or without Islamic disturbances.
This custom of theirs has something to do with sales taxes and untaxed income opportunities.
