Do Not - repeat NOT - watch this link if you want to have that song in your head or if you want to see "pop ups" that explain vegemite, chunder, etc.

Looks to me like another newspaper trying to gin up anti-Bush and anti-American feelings.

Who GIVES a crap about their stupid Vegamite???

We have a right to ban ANYTHING from any other country.

Whatever. In the end it's a restriction on the rights of Americans to buy vegamite from overseas. And it shouldn't be the government's business.

Why do you hate freedom?

Brewer's Yeast (dry powdered form) is a perennial in health food stores. It's supposed to be rich in B vitamins and was apparently used successfully in the american south by the U.S. Health Service in the dirty thirties to stave off pellagra and ricketts in kids.

Apparently they need a new PR person for the US.

I once had a roommate who called vegetables "vuh-jett'-uh-bulls" ... soooo ... maybe the spokescharacter could be "Vegemite Sam" - "vuh-jemm'-uh-tee sam". You're darn tootin'!

You know, I was sorta thinking about this not too long ago:

We can reasonably know that beer isn't entering this country illegally BUT we can't do the same where people are concerned.

Could the answer to illegal immigration be nothing simpler than a very Constitutional "poll tax" that would make every illegal alien a tax evader? Would Unce Sam be strict about immigration if tax money were specifically on the line?

Hey, it works for beer (sales/sin taxes).

Dregs from the breweries. In the USA we use it for cattle feed.

Marmite is foul muck, considered edible only by those who have been accilmated to it since early chidlhood.

My mother, who grew up in England, tried to get us to eat Marmite once. We joked about it for years afterward.

"The trick is in spreading it reeeeeeeally thin..."

Spot on.

Anyone who spreads it like it is on that cracker is asking for trouble.

I'd be hard pressed to remember a dozen days in my entire life that I haven't had Vegemite on toast.Trully the breakfast of champions!

Champion what I don't know....but I love the stuff.

Does anyone know if there's any legitimate reasoning behind banning this stuff?

The US bureaucracy is huge - to put it mildly... To blame Bush for every dumb thing it does is plain stupid.

The FDA is denying entry to the vegemite, so goes the story, because it is supplemented with folate. That's OK in Australia but is only allowed for breads and cereals in USA.

Congress should be asked to pass a Vegemite Act. The amount of folate that one could get from the amount of vegemite one could stomach, would be very little.

Even though I only tried it once, I thought Marmite tasted a lot like if you took a whole gallon of soy sauce and boiled off the water until is was as thick as motor oil. Yech!

Hells Bells, so do I. Speaking of which, Men at Work in that song) make reference to the god forsaken Volkswagen bus. I cannot remember what they call it. I will have nightmares with peaceniks driving these buses for days. Oh, the calamity and horror associated with that video.

"We have a right to ban ANYTHING from any other country."

Perhaps, but Americans also have the right to eat Vegemite, if they wish. Why do you hate liberty?

We have a right to ban ANYTHING from any other country.

Just because you have the right to be stupid doesn't mean you're obligated to exercise it.
