"George Lucas, who produced six Star Wars movies, self-funding a large portion of their sequels' expensive budgets with his own money"

It also helps for your movies to not suck.

Yeah, no doubt. If Ronald D. Moore would put out a 2 hour Battlestar Galactica episode in super-HD to the theaters every 2 weeks - like a serial - I'd show up for that regularly.

BSG: the best show on any screen size right now.

You got that right. It's one of the few things that has come out in the past few years that isn't full of trashy writing.

Frackin' A right it is. The scene you got that cap from is just the icing on the cake.

I *love* BSG! Got my kids, my husband and my cousin addicted! I think that this will be the first series that I buy on DVD.

That was a great idea, and a great scene in BSG. I can't help stop thinking about the particulars of it, what the altitude was when they jumped, what the forward velocity was (probably 0), what the vertical velocity was at the jump point (probably 0 again). The "burning" on the outside of the ship was probably a bit much, but it sure did look cool!

I just started watching it these past couple of weeks. I was impressed. It's pretty good.

I used to watch the original series when I was a kid. It was like a poor man's Star Wars.

Holy frak, that was an awesome scene. Apparently the Cylons up to that point didn't realize that "Galactica" was Caprican for "Wrath of God."

The little things were what really made the episode, though: You've got half the Galactical crew chanting Adama's name, then the music turns melancholy and you see Tigh walking away from the crowd, broken. The reason he was broken (avoiding spoilers here) was every bit as moving.

You know, when I first met him, I never thought I'd like and respect ol' Saul. Can't wait to see the next ep.

How cool is this? I just started watching the series and watched that very eppie last night off my DVR. Unfortunately, I don't get SciFi in HD because it would look kick@ss on my 8-foot wide screen (yeah, I'm cool) ;-)

I'd be there as well. Better acting, writing, effects, actions, etc., than most movies that come out in theaters these days.

Can't go down that road with you. For me tv doesn't get much better than The Wire on HBO. I just finished Season 2 on DVD and was blown away.

100% correct, and that sequence is incredible. I want them on blu-ray or hddvd sooo bad. I have all the regular dvd's of the show so far, and I'll gladly buy them all again in HD. It's just that good.
