Former N.J. Governor James McGreevey and his life partner Mark O'Donnell appeared at a book signing at the Woodbridge Community Center.
TRENTON -- Former New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey, who resigned after admitting to a gay affair, says he would marry his partner if state lawmakers decide to allow gay marriage. "Marriage would offer the ability to bless our relationship in a committed way," McGreevey, 49, told The New York Times for Thursday's newspapers. McGreevey's comments came in response to a New Jersey Supreme Court that said same-sex couples must be extended the same rights as married people. The court left it up to the Legislature to decide whether those rights would be described as marriage or something else.
Some gay rights advocates criticized the decision for not going far enough. McGreevey hailed it. "The decision is courageous," he told The Star-Ledger of Newark. McGreevey told The Associated Press last month that he had publicly opposed gay marriage while in office a way to keep his homosexuality hidden. "I did not want to be identified as being gay, and it was the safe place to be," McGreevey told the AP. "I wanted to embrace the antagonist. I wanted to be against it. That's the absurdity." The former governor stepped down in 2004 after announcing he was gay. Before McGreevey and his partner, an Australian businessman with whom he lives, could marry, the former governor would have to finalize his divorce from his second wife.
McGreevey would wed partner if lawmakers allow gay marriage...and then immediately go cruise the nearest truck stop.
Aw, how sweet, he found a nice Irish boy.
I'm not sure "bless" is the right word. Perhaps "advertise" is more in line with the gay agenda.
This McGreevey's a real marryin' fool. He married two women, now he wants to marry a guy - keep him away from the livestock!
And we all know how much McGreevey respects the sanctity of marriage.
These two crooks should be sharing a jail cell.
Hey Jim: WTFC about your sick perverted life style.
LOL! It's funny--years ago (like 40 years) I worked as a waiter in the Catskills--the famous Borscht Belt. A Joke I heard many times from many comedians was similar:
One Jewish mother is talking to another. In response to "How's everything?" she replies:
"I have some tsuris and some naches." (That translates, roughly, into "troubles" and "blessings," respectively. The "ch" in "naches" is like the "ch" in "Bach.")
"So what's the tsuris?"
"My son is a homosexual."
"Oy, veh! Then what's the naches?"
"He's dating a DOCTOR!"
Ah, but the guy is his "life partner."
Not fair I was thinking that too. Honeymoon at the parkway reststops.
Maybe they could have a nice big wedding with lots of media coverage Monday, November 6. It could provide a wonderful boost for the Kean campaign. Like the Wellstone funeral did in Minnesota. Maybe Menendez could be the best man.
Really. What a f****n' pervert.
The Constitutional Amendment declaring marriage to be between a man and a woman is on the ballot in 8 states this election cycle. Tennessee and Virginia are two of those states.
That should help Corker and Allen in their Senate races.
I think it is on the ballot in NJ as well.
Exactly the same, special bond that your and my parents had... Identical, really!
Remember the good ole days when a degenerate was simply called..a degenerate??
Which partner? The one fifteen minutes ago or the one he's with in the truckstop bathroom right now?
and Barney Frank would be the 'Maid of Horror'...
Mr and Mrs Walsh will not be attending.
You can't have the fun of cheating if you don't go through the pain of getting legally hitched.
(Ever notice how these two guys spend more time with each other than with their wives, they run around without any pants on, etc.?....)
Committed? Only until he makes his next "restroom" stop...
I'm sorry, but two guys getting "married" to each other is the goofyest sh*t I've ever heard of. LOL! I'm never going to get a grasp on this political correctness BS. ROTFL!!!
I can sleep well tonight after hearing Jim McGreevy's words. LOL~~~
It will only get worse, its already out of control as bad as I hate to admit.
Maybe they should have a contest at the wedding to determine that.
By the way--love your screen name--assuming it's a reference to Mickey Mantle.

Sure is. The Mick was my first hero (other than my dad and my grandfathers). If you're a Mantle fan, check out www.themick.com. I particularly like the ten longest homeruns section.
