Active Duty GIs Being Recruited To Lobby Congress Against War
The New York Sun ^ | 10/26/06 | ELI LAKE

WASHINGTON — Former military generals are criticizing anti-war groups for helping to organize active-duty soldiers to urge Congress to end the war in Iraq. In interviews yesterday, the generals were careful to say they have no objection to enlisted soldiers petitioning Congress as private citizens. It is a different matter, however, to coordinate this drive so close to the midterm elections and publicize it with the aid of anti-war organizations, they said. Yesterday, a company that does public relations for the liberal activist political action committee MoveOn.org, Fenton Communications, organized a conference call for reporters and three active-duty soldiers to unveil the soldiers' anti-war group Appeal for Redress.

First there was a new law that allows the military to petition as such but yes I think it is wrong and inappropriate and that the new law at the urgings of provocateurs is being misused for purely defeatist political purposes.

Now as for the provocateurs IMHO they are seditionists who have fed willful lies of omission and commission to these military personnel to seduce them into committing an act though lawful as individuals to do to act in a manner that without the law would border if not cross over into a charge of Conspiracy to Mutiny Under the UCMJ.

The last that I heard the number that had signed on was approximately 250 out of the total number that are currently serving in theater or have served in theater making it statistically and infinitesimally insignificant number.

1 tenth of 1 percent active duty who have political left leanings and decided it was time for their 15 minutes of fame.... Shouldn't surprise anyone... They are also all probably getting out of the military shortly and are deciding on running as Democrat candidates... Ask them.

They were likely promised sexual favors from Cindy Sheehan.

Cheers!

Fenton is a long-time left wing outfit.

Fenton dates back to the days of the Sandalistas in Nicaragua in the 1980's, as reported by P.J. O'Rourke in one of his books (Holidays in Hell) if I remember it right.

Cheers!

In theater? You're absolutely right.

Street theater.

A mime...is a terrible thing to waste.

Cheers!

Wow 213 out of 1.5 million or so. FREEPERS we should not worry too much about this. They probably bribed them with money or something to get them to sign or worse did not tell them exactly what they were signing. Remember E-3 and below are pretty used to signing papers especially the first couple years with little to no explanation. It is not a bad thing just the way it is.

I don't htink they were bribed, I think as I said earlier that they probably joined the military thinking they were going to get a free ride with education & got pissed when the military actually required som, ething of them- true American heros they are [warning- sarcasm]

What part of the swearing in oath dont they understand?

The Oath of Enlistment (for enlistees):

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

I don't understand why they're allowed to speak out like this. I thought that it was against military law to do so before they leave the service.

The whole damned thing is an outrage. That they're "speaking out" and that they're given a forum in which to do that. It's absurd. We're at war and their approval of that war is neither required or requested.

These guys should be given a dishonorable for violating their oath.

I saw one of these treasonous bastards on the Communist News Network recently. He was a coward to the end. Practically cried for his mommy. I kept wondering why the low-life joined the military in the first place if he didn't believe that our country should or would ever go to war.

Thanks Mom- some good info there- I've been mulling over doing an article on this topic- I think though, where I'm not military (although I desperately wanted to be but got sick and couldn't) I should leave it to the MilBloggers to speak out. I just get so upset over snivelling whelps like Huff who cry about hte fact that they have to see a job through to the end to protect this country which they took an oath to do- Huff should resign from the military and leave the country since he feels it's too hard a job to defend it. Or at least resign and let the real men and women do his job for him since he's not willing to.

The Milbloggers are doing an excellent job on the subject. It's rather fitting that those who serve dig up the dirt on these folks.

Why not? They are old enough to vote and so it's speculated that they are old enough to reason. Reason would seem to me that they would have a pretty good idea of how badly this would impact the troops and they'd have to have at least some idea of how this would impact the American people.
