Come on MOgirl, you're supposed to burn cars and break out shop windows and loot when your team wins. Haven't ya seen how they do it in Detroit and a few other places?
Man you guys in Mo just don't know how to have fun.
In all earnesty I didn't hear of any trouble, a real testament to st. Louis and its fans.
I was rooting for the Cards and am glad they won, have fun.

...and it might have happened again if they hadn't managed to win last night (since their next game would have been against Kenny Rogers so it probably would have gone to a seventh game).I'm certain he had a nice, large supply of pine tar at the ready, just in the event of that possibility.

As a Mets fan I was pleased to see those who vanquished us win it all. Alas, one swing by Carlos "Cardinal Killer" Beltran would have changed it all, but my hat's off to Mr Wainwright, who rose above the fray to show his greatness.

Am I the only one who thinks that this Championship is worth 1-2% to Jim Talent?
To: surelyclintonsbaddream
Did you see the MLB ad featuring Tommy Lasorda with the man sitting up in a tree? A woman tells Lasorda that he has been up there since his team was eliminated from post-season contention--turns out the guy is wearing a Cubs shirt.
To: surelyclintonsbaddream
yahoo ran a article, where larussa said rogers "needed help to beat us" and he said "something wasnt right, the ball was acting funny"
then another article also ran by yahoo has larussa saying that we "couldnt beat them fair" which is a load of crap considering how rogers washed the stuff off his hands and still blanked them.
but what would i know? after all, im just a evil ghetto rioting detroiter. /s

Huh? During the NLCS my girlfriend asked me why they were using New York announcers.
To: kjo
There IS something special about beating teams from NY, isn't there? Only that no teams will have to travel to/through NY after defeating them.
To: kjo
kjo I live in Springfield Missouri.
I'm 180 miles from St.Louis but this whole city is made up of Cardinals fans. We have the AA franchise of the Cardinals right here.
The Detroit Tigers are a class act with EVERYTHING to be proud of. They had a rough series but we did two years ago against Boston so I know how it feels. I hope your team keeps kicking azz in the American League!

LaRussa never said anything remotely like that. Either your source or your memory is mistaken. He handled it with such class that many in St. Louis were disappointed he didn't address it more directly.

How long does pine tar keep? Will they have to throw that batch out or will it still be good in spring 2007?

St. Louis is a great baseball town. I remember a few years ago, a survey was taken of the professional players in the MLB, and St. Louis was chosen overwhelmingly as the best town for baseball fans...they most loyal, most polite and most knowledgeable of the game.
All around, a good sports town, but especially prime for baseball.

Ooh, a little nasty aren't we? Just how many titles have the Yankees piled up since Her Heinousness was sworn in? Can you say zero?

Kent, I am sure you have seen this online, but the St.Louis Post Dispatch (stltoday.com) and the official Cardinals website (stlcardinals.com) have some great pics. The Cards website forum has some great pics of the whole series including the celebatory pics from last night. The pic of Jeff Weaver with his arms raised up after striking out the last batter is purely priceless :)
There is another pic of the the whole team mobbing Weaver...lol, they are all little boys no matter what! :D
The St.Louis Cardinals may not be polished or with the big names as some other teams in the country, but damn, they are a great team and they showed that they are World Class champions in the postseason and in the World Series.

There was also a time once when the Red Sox led the Yankees in World Series titles 5-0.

Go Philadelphia Flyers. I'm a 33+ year Flyer fan ... that franchise is in complete disarray. I'm afraid we have a long wait as they rebuild.
What a weird baseball season. The two teams that stumbled into the playoffs made it to the Series. The Tigers seemed to be on a mission, unstoppable.
That's why I don't bet on sports!
Congrats to the former parent team of the Rochester Red Wings!
