BOSTON — Red Auerbach, who coached the Boston Celtics to nine NBA championships in the 1950s and 1960s, died Saturday. He was 89.

Celtic president Red Auerbach died today in Washington, D.C. The franchise patriarch was 89.
Team officials were preparing a release on the matter, but all that is known at the moment is that the franchise patriarch passed away suddenly, according to his daughter.
Auerbach had battled healthy problems regularly the past few years, but had always managed to bring himself back from the brink of the most severe trouble.
In compiling a 938-479 record, Auerbach coached the Celtics to nine NBA championships, including titles in his last eight seasons on the bench.

Yes, very weird but I'm not mourning Berbick. The guy was a criminal:
He was convicted in Florida of raping a family baby sitter and was sentenced to four years in prison.
n 1991, Berbick was convicted of misdemeanor assault for attacking his former business manager, who testified the boxer put a gun to her head...
He also was convicted in 1992 of second-degree grand theft for forging his ex-wife's signature to get a mortgage on a home

I must admit I thought he had long past. I presumed his famous "bench statue" had been placed outside Faneuil Hall when he died.
