Oregonians, the media is predicting Proposition 43 to lose. We need a good turnout. This is the "parental notification" law that an underage teen cannot get an abortion without her parents being notified.
Yes on 43.
Also, FYI, the only truly pro-life candidate for Governor of Oregon is Mary Starrett, Constitution Party. (Wish I could say the Republican candidate was.)

I've been calling at the local GOTV office for weeeks and we called RTL volunteers and asked for people to come call for 43, and not one person has responded!!
I know we all busted our butts getting signatures this past summer, many of us worked month after month going to churches, posat offices, etc., getting signatures, but I am just amazed that not one person has come down here to call for Measure 43!

Very strange, that is a surprise. What does GOTV stand for?
My priest gave me permission to pass out fliers at church, and bumper stickers. It's strange that people say they will vote yes, but do not want to display a bumper sticker.
Maybe people not want to get overtly involved because their friends or neighbors who are anti-life may then dislike them? I can't think why else there seems to be a reluctance to get involved.

Our Gotv office has never mentioned pro life and keeps it out of the campaign.

In Portland and Eugene, perhaps they are afraid of having their cars damaged by the anti-life crazies.

From Grassfire email:
This Tuesday, Grassfire is urging ALL Oregon team members to
vote in favor of Measure 43--The Parental Notification Law
that requires a parent or legal guardian be notified 48
before a minor can have an abortion.
Conflicting reports regarding the proposal's language
concerning rape and incest and the judicial bypass
provision have some confused.
A television spot is gaining notoriety for misleading many.
In it, a fictional father receives a certified letter
notifying him of his daughter's pregnancy. He turns
angrily toward his daughter, who cowers nearby. The ad
tells voters that Measure 43 makes no exceptions for
rape and incest, "puts at-risk teens in greater danger"
and is "not safe."
This ad is misleading, and fails to mention the Measure's
judicial bypass--a safeguard that would enable girls in
certain circumstances to forgo parental notification and
would encourage the detection of abuse.
Keep in mind groups like Planned Parenthood are vehemently
opposed to Measure 43, and are pumping millions of dollars
into a campaign to defeat the measure.
For more information on Measure 43:

++ Action Item--Alert Your Oregon Friends
Grassfire is urging members of our Oregon team to help
rally the needed votes for passage of Measure 43--
The Parental Notification Law.
When parental permission slips are required for students
taking class trips, it makes no sense that a minor child
should be able to have an abortion--a dangerous medical
procedure, without her parents being informed!
Help stop the madness, and support Measure 43.
Please alert your friends today.

YES on 43!! (done)
I can't tell you how many people I've talked to that are against the measure at first, then I give them the scenario of their daughter - 15 - molested by some older man - gets pregnant - man takes her to get abortion - parents never know - abuse continues....
The puzzled look on their faces, "wow, never thought of it that way". I'm hoping that's changed some minds. I pray it has. Why people don't see it as what it is - PROTECTING OUR TEEN GIRLS - is beyond me.

God help anyone that would think about preforming an abortion on my daughter without telling her parents.
