Kerry's November Gift to Republicans? (Dem Congressman Says Kerry Is Blowing 2006 for Dems.)
ABC News ^ | 10/31/06 | JAKE TAPPER, MIKE CALLAHAN and AVERY MILLER

Posted on 10/31/2006 3:54:12 PM PST by MikeA

WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 31, 2006 — For weeks, Republicans on the campaign trail have been looking for something — anything — to talk about other than the record of the Republican Congress and the way the Bush administration has conducted the war in Iraq.

Monday, they got their wish. While stumping for local Democrats in California, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., addressed students at Pasadena City College and made a comment about education and the war in Iraq that lent itself to much controversy.

"You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq," he said.

It was a rhetorical gift for the embattled Republican Party which is eager to run against Kerry again. The White House unusually notified the media ahead of time that the president would address the issue in remarks at today's campaign rally in Georgia.

Election Fodder

The Kerry kerfuffle is a prototype of controversies of the new media age. "Thanks to the Internet, all life is on the record now," observed journalism professor Jeff Jarvis of CUNY. "Everything a politician says and does is public and the world can see in a second … that's life now."

After Kerry's remarks were mentioned on the Web sites of local newspapers, including the Whittier Daily News, the video popped up on YouTube and conservative blogs like Newsbusters.org, and then talk radio seized on them.

Though, as opposed to 2004, it didn't take Kerry weeks to respond to attacks against him. Shortly before noon, Tuesday, Kerry, a Vietnam veteran, responded, insisting in a statement that he had not belittled the intelligence of soldiers serving in Iraq, but rather, that of "the president who got us stuck there."

But it may have been too late, the train had left the station.

"I believe Sen. Kerry owes an apology to many thousands of Americans serving in Iraq, who answered their country's call," said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., campaigning in Indiana.

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said, "It tells us what John Kerry himself and the Democratic Party think about the troops and the U.S. military."

By the time Kerry got to a microphone in Seattle this afternoon to explain what he called a botched joke about the president, hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Americans, had already heard about this new issue and Republican candidates were talking about it.

"It disgusts me that a bunch of these Republican hacks who have never worn the uniform of our country are willing to lie about those who did," Kerry added.

What's unclear is if Kerry's comments will help rally Republican voters or help their party portray Democrats as against the troops to score victories next Tuesday. A Democratic congressman told ABC News, Tuesday, "I guess Kerry wasn't content blowing 2004, now he wants to blow 2006, too."

It wasn't a joke. It wasn't about Bush. It was a statement of core belief from an elitist snob who represents [accurately] the beliefs of the elitist Democrat leadership. And everyone on both sides knows that. And the base of the Democrat party also agrees with Kerry 100%, they just don't want the rest of the electorate to know that until after the election.

The reason the DIMs are so upset is because they know this.

Remember how the left treated the death of Pat Tillman? They haven't changed their beliefs since then.

It's frightening to think about how close we came to having this legally insane person as president. Here's the official criteria for diagnosis of a Narcissistic Personality Disorder (per the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). Check it out...

At least five of the following are necessary for a diagnosis:
1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance
2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by other special people
4. requires excessive admiration
5. strong sense of entitlement
6. takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
7. lacks empathy
8. is often envious or believes others are envious of him or her
9. arrogant affect

BEING A SENATOR FROM MASSACHUSETTS."

Is there any way to "Negate" any votes from those dumb ass voters in Massachusetts, who are allowed to vote and send us such dumb ass so called Senators?

Massachusetts as it is, should be barred from voting period, if you ask me! How the hell can one get over himself and elect/reelect Kerry/Kennedy.

Do they have anything resembling pride anymore?

"The Kerry kerfuffle is a prototype of controversies of the new media age. "Thanks to the Internet, all life is on the record now,"

Translation: Before the New Media, Democrats could say anything they wanted and the DBM would provide cover for them."

Somehow, the Demcorat-media-complex *never* mentions the political angle when the shoe is on the other foot. I dont recall any MSM mention of the liberal funding behind CREW, the outfit that outed Foley and set off many other scandal claims that the MSM willingly broadcast as objective news (and never mentioning the source).

BTW Kerry had to go in the service since his grades didn't allow him another deferment!

IF John Kerry was really as "smart" as he thinks he is...he would have said that he was making a joke at his own expense. Making fun of how bad his own grades were and that he had no choice except to join the military.

Too late now, genius.

He dug himself super-deep already by not apologizing and publicly refusing to apologize.

Any man who wasn't an arrogant horse's a**, even a slimy liberal with a brain, would have realized his mistake and apologized or corrected just to minimize the damage and move on.

Not JK!

Kerry, apparently a victim of BTS (Bush Tourette's Syndrome, like BDS only worse), cant stop himself from saying ugly hateful and harmful things that make him look like the fool.

How in the heck is Kerry blowing 2006?

Unless you have lived in a phone booth for the last 40 years,,,,everyone,,,and I mean EVERYONE--already knows how much the Democrats despise, disdain and loathe the US military.

From Clinton's "loathe the military" comment to Dick Durbin's comparison of our military to Pol Pot, the Soviets and Naziis, to John Murtha's already convicting our Marines of murder, to Ted Kennedy comparing our military to Saddam Hussein torturers, to John Kerry's calling all of our Vietnam vets all murders and rapists (ala Genghis Kahn),,,

the Democrats utter CONTEMPT for the military is very well known and COMMON KNOWLEDGE!!

Why is this anything new, and why is this a big deal??

Congrats to you and your son.
If Kerry was smart(smarter) he would have said that he was now supporting the War and urged all Rats to join him! The war in Iraq would be over in three months , Kerry could get the credit, and have a real shot at 08. But, Kerry ain`t to smart,is he?

Post of the day. It is terrifying how close Kerry (and Gore before him, who fits the profile above pretty well himself) came to the presidency. These people are self-centered, delusional, dangerous boobs and the thought of them in the Oval Office literally makes my blood run cold.

Typical MSM BS..."A Democratic congressman". Why not name the person?

If it was a Republican dissing a fellow GOP or, they hope, Bush they name would be in the headline.

The MSM is pure scum and in the pocket of the DNC. I hope they all go bankrupt.

Kerry's explanation is incomprehensible. God works in mysterious ways.

I've been asking God to do something, nay anything, to help conservatives/GOP win this election. God has a great sense of humor. Never thought He would use a Dem to knock them off their game.

If this plays out over the news cycle as I expect, and it sparks a GOP fire as I think, and leads to GOP victory on election day as I hope, I'd consider this a miracle, too.

Keep praying! ;-)

John F'n Lurch Kerry, hands out a treat to the republican base and a trick to his democrat comrades.

There was no way, not possible, not real that Kerry was referring to our President, and if he was he not only viciously insulted our brave and courageous troops who are, who have, and who always will stand on the grity, bloody battlefields defending our liberty, but also the man America elected to be our CIC.

John Kerry must resign. He is unfit to make decisions concerning our national security and the men and women who are defending America.
