Much has been written about Democratic challengers taking over Republican incumbent seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. In one Indiana congressional district, however, an African-American Republican has the opportunity to beat a African-American Democratic incumbent. Challenger Republican Eric Dickerson is up against incumbent Democrat Congresswoman Julia Carson.

Here’s why the race is interesting:

Carson is simply horrible. I have donated to Dickerson's campaign, and have already voted for him.

I think in all the noise the Democrat machine is putting out they have overlooked the number of races they stand to lose in the red parts of the USA.

Apparently so. He is the keynote speaker at Eastern Star (probably the largest majority-black church in town) tonight.

Given that when Sharpton ran for the Dem Presidential nomination in 2004, he advocated constitutional amendments establishing "rights" to health care and a minimum income, his "so-called justice" rhetoric is in line with Julia's extreme left voting record.

America's most restrictive photo ID requirement is a wild card, and it could possibly hurt the turnout of Julia Carson’s base much more than Eric Dickerson’s base...strange observation, unless one believes that Carson's base includes a lot of dead people, illegal immigrants, and others who can't get photo ID's to vote legitimately.....

Every vote must be counted and every vote must count! Even dead people's votes!

Some estimates are that as many as 8,000 votes were from fictitious voters in the 7th district. Miraculously all of them were reliably for Carson.

A Wall Street Journal article in 2002 detailed just some of the get-out-the-dead-vote activities committed by Carson's bagmen.

Yea, and he made his usual racial arguments that the photo ID law prevented blacks from voting. He appears to think that, if you're white, you don't need a photo ID.

He's an idiot and a racist.

A LARGE Part of what is happening in Indy is that the Former Black Areas are being over-run by Hispanics, AND FAST..

My Wife's Inner-City school was supposed to be 80% Black this year, and it set up that way, and instead was 60% SPANISH!

This has only happened within the last 2 years or so in a HUGE way here...

Carson used to be my congresswoman when I lived in Indy. I remember voting in '94 thinking how just maybe she'd get defeated. She won handily, though for the 7th district it was closer than usual. For anyone not familiar with Ms. Carson, she is probably the stupidest rep in congress. She can barely read the cue cards on her campaign commercials.

However, anyone wanting to think that's who it is is welcome to vote for him. LOL!

Carson never knows the issues. Lives like a pig. Has family members in the pokey, and always talks like she forgot to swallow her mashed taters. Dickerson would be a great change. I'll vote for him.

I live in Indy and there was a debate between Carson and Dickerson. There's been a lot of street violence in this city recently and both candidates were asked what they'd do to solve it. Dickerson gave the usual answers about more police protection, after-school plans for kids, etc. Julia Carson's response: lead paint is the problem so we should repaint the houses in the inner city.

She has the IQ of broccoli.

I have thought this the past few weeks. The OM (that's Obsolete Media) has been trumpeting the "key" races. I belive the Rove machine is targeting some races off the spotlight radar.

This is one of them. I just gave $100 to this campaign and received a PERSONAL phone from Eric Dickerson yesterday thanking me. He told me the response has been unbelievable; that he had a list of over 150 to call to thank.

When I told him I heard about his race on FR, he said FR is awesome.

Other races are Foley's seat in FL, Delay's in TX (TX cd 22), Idaho cd 1. There are going to be some shocked Democrats.
