The DC metro area has several million people...the Federal Gov'mt is the largest employer. We the people, have a real problem...one much bigger than even a Ronald Reagan sized conservative. For one thing, IMHO, one congressman per very 50,000 people in the USA would substantially increase the House and give it much more control. "K Street" ...the lobbyists office grounds, runs far more in DC than anything you or my state delegation to DC could ever hope to claim.
I agree with you in that the the size of the House should be increased. One per 500,000+ is not very good representation. And while we're at it, we could also return to selection of Senators by the state Legislatures.
I can dream, can't I?
