LOGANSPORT, Ind. (AP) - A convicted child murderer who was paroled in March faces murder charges in the death of a 16-year-old girl, whose body was found the day after the two left a restaurant where they worked, a prosecutor said Thursday.

Rouse was arrested and held without bond. Sheriff's Detective Tom Wallace testified at a probable cause hearing Thursday that Rouse admitted strangling Wagner and then stabbing her.

Rouse was released from prison in March after serving more than 26 years for murdering a 5-year-old Kansas boy in 1979. He was convicted of first-degree murder in the slaying of Jason Learst at a Wichita, Kan., apartment, The Wichita Eagle reported Thursday. Rouse also was convicted of stabbing of the boy's mother.

And to think that there are STILL deluded people in this world who try to claim that "capital punishment is not a deterrent". It sure as h3ll would have prevented this tragedy...

Was doing "three life sentences," so naturally they let him out after 27 years.

God Almighty.

Someone should just stick a couple of bullets in this guy's head. He never should have been paroled...

26 years obviously was not enough. So why did he get out?

That doesn't make much sense does it. Unless they calculate life sentences in dog years.

"Ms. Foulston informed me that it was very unlikely that Rouse, with three life sentences would ever be released."

There are a lot of worthless scumbags who run our criminal justice system. He gets three life sentences, but is out in a measily 26 years so that he can kill again.

That's not where all three should go; that's where the last one should go.

Why don't we just kill these monsters? 25 years in prison at taxpayer expense (while the little boy's father can't scrape together enough money to attend the parole hearings, and doesn't get a dime of taxpayer money for that) adds up to well over a million dollars spent on this obviously worthless individual, and all we have to show for it is another innocent youngster dead.

...after serving more than 26 years for murdering a 5-year-old Kansas boy in 1979.

There is the problem. Twenty six years for murdering a child. He can serve twenty six years for this and get out to commit a third murder.

I totally agree. There is no rehab for these types.

Uh oh. The prosecutor actually said something to the press.

Call in the ACLU! Get a Federal judge! This man is obviously a victim.

Might not be a deterrent to an ORIGINAL crime, but it sure as hell is a deterrent to a SUBSEQUENT crime.

I want these people who let these monsters loose on us to pay for their actions.
