Thank you very much for your comments. As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.
This is the finest military that we've ever had. I have fought a lifetime on behalf of veterans. We have the finest young men and women serving us in the United States military that we've ever had, and Im proud of that. As a combat veteran, I know the dedication, integrity, and commitment of American troops. I've lived it. Had George Bush and Dick Cheney lived it one minute of their comfortable lives in combat they would never have sent American troops to war without body armor or without a plan to win the peace and they wouldn't be exploiting our troops today.
The White House's attempt to distort my true statement is a remarkable testament to their failure in making America safe. It is a stunning statement about their willingness to reduce anything in America to raw politics. It is textbook Republican campaign tactic. Try to change the topic; try to make someone else the issue; not the policy, not their responsibility.
I apologize to no one for my criticism of the President and of his broken policy. If anyone owes our troops in the fields an apology, it is the President. It's their willingness to distort, their willingness to mislead Americans, their willingness to exploit the troops, as they have so many times at backdrops, at so many speeches at which they have not told the American people the truth. Its George Bush's broken policy that kills and maims our heroes in Iraq every single day. His pathetic attempt to distort a botched joke about President Bush is a shameful effort to distract from a botched war.
President Bush owes an apology to our troops and to their families for mistake after mistake in Iraq. George Bush didn't do his homework when he ran from sound intelligence about Iraq. Dick Cheney didn't learn from the lessons of the Gulf War when he forgot his own advice not to get bogged down in Iraq. George Bush didn't do his homework when he ignored General Shinseki's advice to go to war with enough troops to maintain order. This entire administration didn't learn anything about telling the truth; otherwise they would have leveled with the American people that we are stuck in a civil war in Iraq today.
The following is my email response to Mr. Kerry's email to me:
First, let me state emphatically, our President owes no one an apology, and he has not "botched" anything regarding the war in Iraq. It is the liberals in this country who keep "botching" things with their partisan, politically motivated attempts to regain power in Congress, while at the same time rendering aid and comfort to our enemies. Liberals should be ashamed of their behavior during this time of war.
Second, you have made a political career out of belittling and bashing our military, Mr. Kerry. You claim to be a combat veteran, but my son has now more time in combat than you ever did, and he is not attempting to wound himself in order to be sent home after a brief stint. Further, your bashing of the President and Vice President rings hollow in light of the fact that you have shown complete support of Mr. Clinton, who not only never served in uniform (as did President Bush), but is known to have gone to foreign countries while we were at war and belittled his own country. Stop this partisan one-sided bashing of convenience, Mr. Kerry.
Third, you do owe all of our troops, as well as President Bush and his administration a huge apology for your hurtful and callous remarks. If you cannot bring yourself to issue a REAL apology, then Americans have no alternative but to know you as the pompous, narcissistic, egomaniacal, self-aggrandizing fool that you've shown yourself to be. Our military is not "stuck" in Iraq, and we are not engaged in a civil war in Iraq. Perhaps you should spend some time over there and ask the people of Iraq if they wish to have our troops there, and if they want to have a peaceful country. Our military and the Iraqi people are fighting insurgents (many from other countries) and terrorists who are trying to move Iraq into a civil war. I'd think that someone who claims to have intelligence would be able to tell the difference. But, perhaps I'm wrong. You don't have any intelligence. My family has four members serving in our armed forces, and all of them are intelligent. They enlisted in order to defend our nation and help the Iraqi people. They were/are full aware of what is at stake, unlike you who seem to think you are above all that. As far as intelligence goes, I'll stack up my B.A. (Suma cum laude, with Honors) and my M.A. against your bought and paid for education from Yale any day.
With going on 3000 troops having sacrificed their lives for people like you to be free to make stupid comments, making your "botched" joke (as you call it) is completely inappropriate. Our nation being at war is not a "joke" Mr. Kerry, and you have no business trying to make "jokes" during this time of war. When I think of people like you being in the positions you are in, I think about what might have been had you, Pelosi, Murtha, Kennedy, Reid, Reed, Schumer, et al had been in Congress during WWII. I can only surmise that we would probably have lost that war.
You need to step down from your Senate seat Mr. Kerry. You are not fit to be a political leader in this nation, and your continued bashing of our military is just providing fodder for our enemies. This is a sad state of affairs when our enemies are rooting for the Liberals in this country to take control of Congress so that they can defeat American. You are an embarrassment and a liability to our nation. Resign now while we still have a chance to win this war.
Sincerely,
Richard L. Pinnell

Awesome!
Beautiful
Is this Kerry's form letter?
My guess is yes. The letter I wrote posted here was emailed to the Kerry website. I doubt that he'll read it, but I can hope.
This is GREAT Mr Pinnell!!
Well said, I hope you sent your son a copy. I will never forget Kerry's time with VVAW. We had to take a few of his organizations IED's out in this country. I bet he will not reply.
Matter of fact, you should send a copy of your reply to President Bush and his staff, I think they would like to read it.
Tell your son once again, he has our support and may God bless him and keep him safe.
Totally AWESOME!!
I find little "form" in that letter.
Great response to a loser that isn't even fit to shine the boots of one single soldier. I second it: RESIGN MR KERRY, you have no business representing our GREAT country with your FASCIST attitude and ideologies!
WAY TO GO!!!
What a totally SMARMY, condescending e-mail he sent you...
Do you think he REALLY wrote that..or even dictated it??
My son should be on a flight coming home for 20 days of R n R tomorrow. I'll have to wait until he gets home to show him this.
Fantastic letter!
I believe he probably okayed the letter written by one of his staffers. I doubt he has the intelligence to write a letter on his own.
I think it's safe to assume you won't be receiving another response...if Kerry can't issue a real apology in public it's highly unlikely that he'll have staffers respond to accurate criticism.
Outstanding. I just sent it to several of my family and friends, both conservative and liberal. Someone should send it to other bloggers, radio hosts, etc, (with permission of course).
Ouch!!
No matter if F'n reads it or not. I could well be picked up and spread abroad
Great response SD!
Jon Carry can stuff it.
Just being honest.
Send it to all news media, let's see who will publish it!
Our son joined Navy after getting his master's in Bioengineering. I am sure there many others with university degrees and good education, loving this country and willing to fight for it.
Scumbag Kerry should resign immediately!!!
bttt...
I listened for about 5 minutes to Bill O'Reilly's radio show this afternoon...and he had a caller blasting jon carry for what he said...
BOR said that he KNOWS that carry was NOT trying to put down the troops "because he is too smart---I've known him for years...and he is too smart to insult the troops"..
Yeppers...that is what Bill O'Reilly said....GAG ME
bump
You speak for many of us here, SoldierDad. A heartfelt thank you.
That's gonna leave a mark......
That's gonna leave a mark!
Get outta my head!!!!
He just sends out a form letter,he is truly a terrible waste of skin.
John Kerry's Email Reply (BARF ALERT!)Posted on 11/02/2006 1:46:33 PM PST by highimpact
This letter should be sent to every Republican running for any office in this nation, so that he or she may share it with his or her constituency.
Mr. Pinnell has in a single page expressed what every American who values freedom SHOULD feel. Unfortunately, there are too many "September 10th" Americans around who seem to think that if we talk real pretty to these practitioners of the "Religion of Peace" that they will be content to stay in their oil-infested rat holes and leave the rest of the world alone.
Didn't work in the middle ages, won't work now. Sounds like the junior Senator from Taxachusetts never studied medieval history in his "bought and paid for" Yale education!
God bless!
And rightfully so. One has hope in the constant battle between good and evil. Kerry's mind is so poisoned he no longer even knows when he is wrong. A person like Kerry will never know the true meaning of honor and patriotism. He will never feel the hair rising on his neck when 1000 soldiers sing the national anthem. He will never understand the pride as a soldier stands with a sword in one hand and the flag in the other and pledges his life to the defense of his nation. He is puzzled at the true meaning of the term "Brothers in Arms". He will never see the beauty in the mind of a soldier as he watches the sun rise over a foreign land while he longs for home and stands determined that evil will not sway this day.
Heartless IMO.
Well said. You are what America should be, having the courage to stand up to a worthless man with power. Remember the "Swifties"
Semper Fi
Thank you, SoldierDad!!! Your letter to Kerry deserves a standing ovation! It won't matter one wit to "the twit", but we care, and we applaud you. God bless your son and nephews. With families such as yours, we will always have hope for a bright future.
Just WOW! Thanks for sending the letter. My gratitude and my prayers to members of your family that are in service. God bless you and them.
Kick ass response.
Nice kickin', Soldier Dad!!
My sincere thanks to your son for his service, and may God grant him continued success in his missions, victory in battle, if battle it must be, and a safe return home to his loved ones!
And may God bless you, too, sir!
Now THAT'S AWESOME!
I think I speak for all on this board when I say your son has our heartfelt gratitude for doing the hard work and putting himself in harm's way for our way of life. Your letter was a masterpiece. For your son and nephews:

Well done! I cannot improve on anything you wrote, and I hope Kerry gets to read it. Thanks for posting it!
Pinging a few friends
Good job!
Let us know if he ever responds. Somehow I don't think he will.
Way to go SD!
