Good post. I could not agree more. We realize the MSM is working to depress the vote but they have also managed to make conservatives defensive on some issues. All of us have to stop that and get positive about what we know to be true. We are winning the peace in Iraq, it's just taking longer than we'd like it to take. The economy is booming, unemployment is down, inflation is stable and virtually every indicator is in great shape.
Instead of lamenting our problems we should be touting our successes.
Republicans don't brag as well as we should.
One thing I thought was interesting...
Steve said he would have "cracked" in less than 20 minutes comibined of the three phases...BUT, less than 5 minutes after they quit...he felt fine.
To ME, torture is something that "leaves a mark" so to speak.
NO...I sure didn't.
Interrogations are OPTIONAL now??
Who decides??
I NEVER hear the Republicans brag well...and the few times I have, unfortunately, they have a host that interrupts them to ask about a scandal that happened a long time ago..LOL
That is a Reuters article...and it seems to be missing some more "context" or something.
I am sure that some detainees are more amenable to just being "talked" to than others...but, I can't say a blanket policy of no interrogations makes much sense either.
It kind of makes me think what will happen if a Dem gets into the White House, where N. Korea and Iran are concerned..----they would say that "miltary force" will not be used against them, because, like in Iraq, SOME countries just don't get beat by bombing them.....arrrrrrrrgh...
Giving those countries too much of a comfort zone..
Actually, I would like them to have less of a comfort zone than they have right now...
Thanks for the link. I especially like it when Cheney said that what the press thinks doesn't matter. Steffie looked like he'd been hit up the side of the head with a two-by-four.
An aacronym older than SNAFU but perhaps not as old as RSVP is POSH...which originally stood for "port out, starboard home."
Ugh...I just watched the Journal Report on Fox...and I may be wrong...but, I thought I heard them say, right at the end, that JD Hayworth is going to LOSE...
Is that right???
Just dropping this link in here ( Condi's remarks ):
Web sites demise revives dispute ~Husseins nuclear program files ...shows... threat from Iraq.
That is exactly the way any of the Bush Admin...AND the GOP should answer any questions about this..
I saw a thread earlier that said that Levin, Rockefeller, Reid and one other DEM Senator are asking the White House to explain....contending that they risked national security ..
I wonder then, if they will be in favor of an investigation into the NY Times, WaPo...the CIA, State Dept and Congress... to find out who leaked all of those security measures that we and the terrorists have all read about??
Should be interesting....shutting down here for the night!
Good night...come visit on the Sunday Talk show thread tomorrow!!
At the Colorado GOP Assembly this past summer, Governor Owens speech to the Republican delegates was fantastic. He covered both his and the Republican accomplishments, leadership and all the things we have done to help Colorado in the past few years. Was this put out to the masses? Nope. Was it reported in depth by the media? Of course not. Was it put on the website? Nope. Its as though it never happened.
The lack of sophistication and effective communication has been disappointing because the party faithful need these things to help us defend our side in this political philosophy war with the left.
I notice Perlosi is no where to be seen. I guess the Democrats want to keep her out of sight and out of mind.
#####
The tactic worked for Hillary in 2000, so the entire Dem party, which includes big media, has incorporated the tactic this election. It helps keep those generic poll numbers up when nothing negative about Dems is reported to potential voters.
Nancy started promising that she would reveal positions of her party last winter - always giving a date about 60 days ahead. Well, here we are 2 days ahead of the election, and where is their "plan" for the country? Besides "getting Bush", I mean.
"I always believed as a speechwriter that if you could persuade the president to commit himself to certain words, he would feel himself committed to the ideas that underlay those words. And the big shock to me has been that although the president said the words, he just did not absorb the ideas. And that is the root of, maybe, everything."
Frum states that this is a quote of his words. Now he is trying to nuance it. I hope he shrivels up like a slug.
My very smart and politically aware mother has said for years that President Bush does the best when his speechwriters use HIS words in their composition. W does not trip or falter when the language is natural to him. I bet Frum's speeches were some of the ones that gave him an unnatural delivery. Especially if Frum thought that he was going to put thoughts into the President's head. WOW!!
Really makes me mad on a lto of levels because I like JD and I have Lupus and with the right diet and lifestyle it is far from a death sentence and I don't need stem cells to save me... but, most people have no clue and it seems to be working because they keep running it... another ad keeps saying he is a crook and AZ needs a change.
I am so sorry to hear you have Lupus!!
You are so correct about the exploitation of the people with diseases to try to win an election ...it is horrible.
My 7 year old granddaughter has diabetes..and as much as I want her "healthy"...I would never condone killing fetuses to experiment...especially since they have found NO evidence that they work...
RE: Hayworth...I know they are trying to tie him to Abramhoff...I just never even considered that his contest would even be close...
