How Wal-Mart Banned a Terrorist Look-Alike
Spiegel Online ^ | 11/01/2006 | Karen Naundorf

Posted on 11/04/2006 8:37:02 PM PST by Dallas59

RWal-Mart is making life difficult for Oscar Brufani, a 52-year-old man who makes his living delivering potato chips in Buenos Aires. One of the corporation's store managers thinks he looks like Osama bin Laden -- and won't let him come near her store.

Oscar Brufani delivers potato chips in Buenos Aires -- and he looks a lot like Osama bin Laden. Oscar Brufani has only shaved three times in his life -- the first time when he was 18 and needed to have his picture taken for his passport. He felt naked.

The second time came when he was given a medical examination. He felt humiliated. And to this day he still regrets the third time: He was 24 years old and wanted to do his wife a favor. She was pleased, but their three little daughters ran away -- frightened by the man with the bare chin. It was then that Brufani swore to himself he would never shave off his beard again....

Bette Midler, on standing next to LaToya Jackson at the "We Are The World" recording: "I stood next to LaToya! She was wearing a headband! I felt naked!"

Why one thing makes me think of another is a mystery.

And sadly, you had to tell us about it...

Inquiring minds really don't want to know about this in any more detail...

Personally, I am hoping that beards become looked down upon and spurned in society. (And I have had one any times, by the way)

We need to begin to ostracize appearances of Islam. That means the veil, burkas, beards, turbans... ANYTHING that even remotely looks Muslim should be made a thing to be looked down upon.

We need to continue to make Islam anathema.

Brufani hopes his own problem will be solved in the same way -- out of court, quietly and quickly. Maybe, he thinks, he'll even get some compensation.

If his lawyer can link Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove somehow... game over.

As it happens I went to walmart this afternoon. Exiting as I was entering was a muslim couple. The woman was in full burka with face concealed. For a second I thought it was a belated halloween sighting. Oddly, neither carried any purchase bags. I figure she had all she needed under that giant burka.

Wal-Mart is hardly a conservative company, yet there are those of FR who go nuts any time someone criticizes them.

I think it boils down to the cheap stuff from Communist China. As some FReepers say, "Whatever's good for me must be good for the country."
