CONCORD, N.H. -- The National Republican Congressional Committee acknowledges that its automated phone program on behalf of a local congressman may violate New Hampshire law, but said that it would continue, despite opposition from local party leaders.

Two complaints filed with the state attorney general's office Friday accused the congressional committee of violating state law by directing automated phone calls to those on the federal Do Not Call Registry....

Politics are specifically EXCLUDED from the Do Not Call Registry.

That's the way I remember it, anyone?

You're right, political calls are exempt from the NATIONAL do not call list. This is a pi$$ poorly written article. NH may have a local law, but it sure isn't clear by this piece of garbage.

Politics, charities, and surveys.

The NRCC is fast rising to near the top of my S##T list.

Call me once a day, I can live with it

Call me twice a day, I start getting annoyed

Call me 3,4,5 times a day, you're on my list.

They're on my list

I was just interupted while dialing an outside call by them ringing in. Had to go back and look the number up again.....grrrr!

Caller ID is keeping me sane right now. If I don't see a number/name I recognize, the phone doesn't get picked up. If it's important, they'll leave a message.

After the election, I may revise that policy, but then again, it's actually much more peaceful this way anyway.

NRCC has been calling constantly too :)

I would rather hear them trying hard, instead of wondering what effort they're making to win. Keep calling boys, even if I don't stay on the phone to chat with ya!

I have caller ID and knew it was a call I wouldn't accept. But, I was using a portable phone that let's me dial the number before actually connecting to the line. When I connected, the jerks were still recording their spiel to my answering machine and I couldn't get a dial tone, and couldn't disconnect them until they were finished.....there's another one right now.

Laws? We don't need no stinkin' laws!

The Republicrats seem to think that the laws don't apply to them, but they want the laws enforced against other parties.

They have another tactic too, I see. The last call showed an area code and phone number, so I dialed it back. Got a recoriding saying it's no longer in service or disconnected. How do you make a call from a disconnected numger?

I'm referring to the calls I'm receiving in California. I'm getting a lot of live calls checking to see if I got my absentee ballot, do I plan to vote, etc. At least six calls so far. Yes, I'm getting tons of recorded call too. Everybody who's anybody in the GOP, and Hillbilly Clinton too.

actually the federal laws actually superceed this.

In fact most states actually excluded political calls BECAUSE of first amendment protection issues.

The republicans are on solid ground legally.

It is just a poor article.
