I wonder if this was the same outfit that showed Bush ahead in MI around a week before the 2004 vote though. ;(

Besides overestimating Demo strength in '02, pollsters also missed John Engler's upset win in 1990. And going way back to 1982 the GOP nominee for governor that year, Dick Headlee, was expected to get trounced but he made a very respectable showing, as I recall. Did better than expected.

The 2004 internals showed Bush ahead or at least within striking distance, or so I was told by the national folks. I do think Mitchell showed the race closer than other polls though.

Don't worry about Detroit. Crack heads and welfare queens are too lazy to go vote.

Maybe so - but in 2004 the democratic party was driving them in buses from polling place to polling place.

One thing that will help us in Michigan is the fact that the unions, especially the teachers unions are not crazy about Ms. Graftholm.

I'll be doing by bit to boot her out of office. (as well as Ms. StabMeNow)

I remain suspect of this Mitchell poll for reasons already discussed and from what I can find this is their first poll on the races. The RCP average has Granholm up 10 points, and this seems to be too big of a jump from all other polls. It may be skewing the numbers intentionally to get the vote out, which is understandable.

Overall, DeVos has run a disappointing campaign so far and I wouldn't be surprised to see him lose, which is especially unfortunate for the outcome of MI in '08. Oh well.

Mitchell had the 2004 Presidential election about right. As for DeVos, he just doesn't seem to have any charisma. I'm not really disappointed in his campaign, certainly not like I am in the Bouchard campaign. Unfortunately, besides his lack of personal appeal, the unions also hate Amway and his candidacy has probably fired up their ground game.

Karl Rove on Hugh Hewitt....

Folks, go here an listen delayed:

http://streamingradioguide.com/streaming-radio-stations.php

Or go to www.hughhewitt.com to listen to the excerpt later when they post it.

They discussed the MI races. The changes noted and Rove commented that Bouchard was w/in 3% and that his legislature and other resume enhancers have made him known and one county in particular he mentioned as critical as the swing that could help him out a great deal. I was in the middle of dinner listening w/ 1/2 an ear, wish I had better detail. Cross our fingers.....

Yes, but don't underestimate the Dems and their "get out the dead vote" strategy.

...or the union vote, which is almost the same thing, but with heavy breathing.

Here we are...the only state in the country to fail to create jobs in the last 12 months and Granholm and Stabenow are leading in the polls.

Anyway, I don't doubt Bouchard's grassroots network, I didn't support him in the primary but he pretty much swept the state (except conservative Western Michigan). If DeVos can carry him at the top of the ticket by showing well in his area, Bouchard just might have the name recognition in Macomb and Oakland County to win.

Thanks, I found it (just was trying to figure out all of the choices). And I heard him...I particularly liked that he said he was going to pull the pin on the judicial filibusters.

Good news in both races.

Down with the dimocrats!

Vote and vote conservative. Both these voices are good conservative voices.
