The bad thing is that the Hillary 2008 campaign basically starts tomorrow.

As Freepers our campaign to get rid of her should have started a long time ago.

"As Freepers our campaign to get rid of her should have started a long time ago."

It didn't help us that she moved to New York, which helped her from a US Senate perspective

However, this makes her unelectable to the presidency.

Re: #15. Agree with you. The war will not be de-funded. Attempts to tie it to other bills will fail - US military personnel would be used as pawns by Dems - that will not go well.

If anything, there will be more gridlock, and endless investigations. I also don't think Dems will allow themselves to convene Impeachment hearings - they will come just short of that.

If Dems win the House, the ball will be largely in President Bush's court. It will test his political skills to be able to deal with the House being controlled by the opposition party.

Just why does Mr. Bartlett believe that Republicans will act on these possibilities? Their history is one of going along to get along. A close House or ZSenate may well be dffectively majority Demorat when it comes to voting because in a close situation Republican RINOS revel in being the power fulcrum and vote with the Democrats or intimidate the Republicans into dropping legislation or going along with Democrat bills.

Republicans in Congress act as if they believe that the Democrats are, indeed, the rightful rulers of the country and the Republicans are just sort of marking time until the Democrats get their act together to be able to take charge again.

A Republican/Bush Amnesty may well result in a ballooning Mohammedan population. I believe the Latinos will begin to convert wholesale at some point when it is apparent that it will give them the balance of power in the USA.

Ronald Reagan 2

That presupposes that there is such a man waiting and/or ready. RR is a very rare commodity. If Bush knew some real economics he could have been that man. The USSR was brought down by a largely economic war fought by a leader who understood economics. He is one of two presidents since 1900, if not since the founding, who understood Economics, the other being Calvin Coolidge. Doers, politically ambitious people, generally do not study Economics and it is not in their genes either. Economics is a tremendously boring subject for an activist personality and such people ignore the subject in school. RR had a bachelor's in Economics from a school that taught real Classical Economics, i.e. how the world works rather than Keynesianism or Monetarism or how to get all the strings of the Economy in government hands.

. It will test his political skills to be able to deal with the House being controlled by the opposition party.

I fear he will meet that challenge by getting Teddy Kennedy to write bills for McCain to cosponsor and pass for the sake of bipartisanship.

It is easy for you to criticize Republicans for not calling press conferences that the MSM would not cover or cover in such a way as to make the Republicans involved look bad.

So true! Same with protests where a handful of leftist loons get tons of coverage but a march of 75,000 pro-life activists is barely afforded a blip.

Agreed. 100%.

The Republicans ran the most spineless and lackluster campaign I can remember since the early 90's. There are so many things they could have said/done to turn this around and that they didn't some days makes me think we really are part of the "stupid party".

Avoidance of press conferences is only one aspect of giving the appearance of lukewarm-ness. Certainly the media isn't fair. I believe there are ways to show a united front and send a message without falling to the gutter tactics of the RATS. Being invisible doesn't help anybody either.

Where was the punishment for Sandy Bergers burglering, for instance? Where was the republican disgust and condemnation?

Yes, it's that way because of the media. And also because of uncreative Pubs who can't seem to find a way to get their message out on national tv, show strength or unity. Look how many times Pubs have sabotaged Pubs. John Bolton for instance, first Buckets and now that RINO from Rhode Island.

Certainly there is no other option than voting straight R any more. But they exasperate me to the core on a regular basis.

All that said, I do hope they continue controlling both houses of congress.

I've just started a wonderful book called "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam" and it contends that Muhammad said that truces should be used to re-arm. He was first and foremost a general (man o' war) and saw things in military terms. Any "peace" that they make will be 10 years at the most and they will use the time to prepare their next assault.

This is a perfect storm--a zealous enemy committed to death and self-destruction in the name of Allah, appeasing "peacemakers" who naively think that nothing can be done led by arrogant, elitist snobs who think that they are "smarter" than everyone else, and a propaganda machine focused on everything but military success. We are so stupid to be duped so easily.

How about this for media coverage.

---------------------------------------------------------

Republicans in the Bush Justice Department have indited a former Clinton Administration official, Sandy Berger, for going through government documents and taking copies of documents he had written. Officials told AP that other copies of these documents exist in goverment files and taking copies of his hand written notes to himself may not be a violation of the law.

Berger told the AP that Republicans had been using the contents of these documents to attack the Clinton administration on its anti terrorism record. Berger said he wanted copies of the actual documents to be able to refute the lies the Republicans have been telling about the Clinton administration position on terrorists.

Former president Clinton defended the right of Berger to have copies of the documents he had written during the Clinton administration. Clinton called on Bush to stop his FBI from being used to attack members of the Clinton administration.

------------------------------------------------------

One other factor .. what do you think the chances of getting a conviction of Sandy Berger would be in a jury composed of Washington DC or even Northern VA Democrats. Would you say slim and none? If you don't think that was the case then you know nothing of the real chances in a DC court.
