Steele Set for Victory? (US Senate Majority Looking Good!)
Red State.com ^ | 11/7/06 | erick

If early indications in Maryland and GOP rumblings can be believed, it looks like the GOP will hold on to the U.S. Senate thanks to the election of Michael Steele to the United States Senate.

Several top Republicans in DC are quietly saying they expect Michael Steele to win and Georgia House District 12 to flip to the GOP.

The Dims need to draw an 'inside stright' to get control of the Senate because they are already so far behind in numbers

"Because it looks like Allen may lose."

Based on what? No votes have been counted yet. Anyone can lose, but it is a lot harder to do before the votes are counted.

I also voted for Allen early this morning, and have lived and voted in Virginia most of my adult life.

Based on RCP aggregation of polls--which I have found to be the most accurate of any method for predictions.

Based on RCP, Allen, Talent, DeWine, Chaffee and Santorum will be net losses. It's up to Maryland.

Oddly enough, one Dem who isn't really saddened by Steele's win is Nancy Pelosi..becuase it was her arch-enemy Steny Hoyer who hand-picked Cardin and forced him on the Md Dem party..

still keep voting after work, no time to be overconfident!

Exactly! Especially when you think of how much cheating is going on from the dummycRAT side.

I hope you don't trade stocks on trailing indicators too.

Which is why I am not comfortable with our being the "deciding" election for the Senate. I'd rather it be over early and avoid the nasty stuff that is inevitable if the other side is boxed in with nowhere to go.

I'd much rather have the reaction be, "it came down to who?"

There is only one poll that counts. Everyone should know that. Didn't anybody learn anything from the 2004 election?

A poll can't count votes, or cast them. It takes people going to the polls.

My polling place this morning:

I was rushed upon my arrival by a Webb worker, but before she could get to me I announced in a louder than usual voice to the Allen worker that I wanted one of the Allen signs to put in my front yard where neighbors on each side had placed Webb signs. (One of my neighbors works for the Washington Post, so no surprise there.)

Once inside there was a special event taking place that I want to share with all freepers, and particularly anyone who is thinking of sitting this one out. There was a man who appeared to be in his late thirties with both arms off at the shoulders. Our voting machines are touch screen models. He removed his right shoe by holding his left one against it. He then raised his right leg and made his selection with his toes, then placed his foot back on the floor while he read each item on the issues list to be voted on, and after each item was read, he raised his right leg and voted with his toes again and again. He was a model of efficiency.

What excuse do you think would have prevented this American from voting?

RCP is accurate in the bigger dance and this one will be full of surprises.
Big Mo came in late and it's running HARD.

It's not on any scoredcard except for today. That's going to show the drift has continued to the right!

And the rain isn't going to hurt either.

If Steele wins Maryland -- it would be a miracle. No shot. Zero.

Great candidate -- great guy -- great campaign -- and he once did a campaign stop for me -- so I wish it was true.

he will be lucky to close to within 4 points.

If he wins -- which again I think is a zero possibility -- the republicans will hold the house and senate -- and this hype will be exposed. Unfortunately -- I see no indication of that -- none.

sorry.

I can feel it in my bones. And my bones feel happy. Steele is going to win.
I have a sixth sense about these things. And my spidey sense is tingling.

__________

Um...what "indications" are you looking at, that tells you Steele is toast in Maryland??

He's only 70-75% conservative, but he's rock-solid, having endured heavy intimidation and ridicule from many quarters and never waverwed (it only gets his back up). I like this guy, 2008 is too early, but If he sticks to his principles and sticks by his woman, he'll be big-time in 2012.
