Steele Set for Victory? (US Senate Majority Looking Good!)
Red State.com ^ | 11/7/06 | erick

If early indications in Maryland and GOP rumblings can be believed, it looks like the GOP will hold on to the U.S. Senate thanks to the election of Michael Steele to the United States Senate.

Several top Republicans in DC are quietly saying they expect Michael Steele to win and Georgia House District 12 to flip to the GOP.

Nice, capable, lady but a poor candidate. She came off terribly, and was saddled with being on the ticket with the likes of Bill Brock. Brock's campaign was as bad as Steele's is good. Which is to say, very.

And then she got thumped the second time around.

KKT had as much to do with the rebirth of the Maryland Repubs as Sauerbrey.

Ehrlich got a chance and made the most of it. Now Steele stands to benefit, and the line will (hopefully) be continued.

The guy who isn't going to get the credit he deserves if (when) Steele wins is Ambassador Keyes.

Are you any where near Jarrettsville? Stuck downtown and dying to know what's going on up there.

I been following Steele since I first heard him on WCBM about 9 years ago. He was head of the GOP for Maryland. I knew this guy was going national then!

I'd be proud to vote for him if he were 20 points down. He's going to win.

I just got back from voting. No line whatsoever. The clerks said it had been light most of the day.

I'm in the heart of Montgomery County. VERY Democratic country. It's a hopeful sign.

Also, it's raining. That might keep the lazy home, who tend to be Democrats.

With all due respect, I must disagree. I voted for Alan Keyes. I voted for Bill Brock. I voted for Linda Chavez.

None of them had a prayer of a chance. Not even remotely close. Simply point, none of them were taken seriously.

Ms. Sauerbrey almost won.

To be certain, Steele surpasses Keyes in every respect. I see Keyes as Steele v.1.0.

Credit must be given to the Maryland party for seeing the potential in an African-American, values-based, candidate. It's a huge sell as P.G. County morphs from D.C. East into something more stable and prosperous.

The fact that Steele can talk about the ICC and the Purple Line is gravy.

From Polipundit. I would also be willing to buy a round:

Pass the Kool Aid

Deep down inside they know it:

Now, Mr. Bennett said, failure to win the House, even by one seat, would send Democrats diving under their beds (not to mention what it might do to all the pundits).

“It would be crushing,” he said. “It would be extremely difficult.”

Mr. Cook put it more succinctly. “I think you’d see a Jim Jones situation — it would be a mass suicide,” he said.

First glass on me, Demofascists!

I did my part!

Based on my poll simple of one - Steele wins in a landslide.

Dear Vision,

Okay. I see your point. There were several bluish jurisdictions that year. I was thinking back to the 2002 gubernatorial election, which seemed to me more appropriate this year.

And hoping for a repeat. ;-)

I believe you're right. Black voters still feel a great deal of allegiance to the Democratic Party because of the Civil Rights movement. One of the Republicans Party's biggest mistake was to get maneuvered into appearing as the party opposed to Civil Rights. So blacks are stigmatized if they admit they're voting for Steele, who has been maligned by the race-baiters as an Uncle Tom and an Oreo.

Today, our conservative principles are closest to most black voters, and white and black voters who share the same values should work together for the party that represents those values. Blacks suffer more than anyone because of the Liberal values that weaken the family, downplay drug use as a problem, and go soft on crime.

In my opinion, the party that represents whites and blacks best is the Republican Party.

Concur...the BEST news for Steele was yesterday, when the Dems had to import Clinton and Gore to campaign for Cardin.. a sure sign they knew they were in trouble..also a good sign was that neither Sharpton or Jackson did much for Cardin...they were too busy appearing with Lamont..LOL...perhaps those two race-baiting hucksters are finished..

I agree on both counts. The atmosphere in Georgia is pro-Perdue/Cagle and that will help Burns in a close race with RAT Barrow.
Steele is truly an impressive man and candidate. He may be a future Presidential candidate.

I have to laugh, because we're probably two of the few people who remember Ellen Sauerbrey, period, let alone to be arguing the merits of her campaign twelve years on.

Update from central Anne Arundel County.

My wife just went to vote at our rural polling station. She, too, had to wait a short while to vote. She didn't wait to vote in 2004.

Crossin' my fingers!

Dear Loyolas Mattman,

"To be certain, Steele surpasses Keyes in every respect. I see Keyes as Steele v.1.0."

I just don't see it that way. Mr. Steele is an entirely different sort of candidate than Mr. Keyes.

If both Santorum and Steele could somehow pull out a victory, could you imagine a Steele/Santorum (or vise versa) ticket in '08? They would be pretty unstoppable in my mind.

I know, I know, I'm dreaming...
