I see it frequently with my GPS system in my car.

That's what we use here in Arizona and I LIKE it! Nobody can steal my vote - I have to mark it in with the black marker and then I get to walk my ballot over to the machine and enter it in myself! I don't trust anybody when it comes to voting instrumentation.

voters apparently don't realize that in order to deselect a vote for a candidate on the new machines, they need to touch the icon for that candidate, and then touch the screen again to select the icon of the candidate for which they want to cast a vote.

Well, the dummies - first you press the icon for the person you DON'T want to vote for - makes sense - NOT. and since his is the only icon left lit - and to vote Kean you'd have to press Menendez first - would that give him 2 votes and why would a vote for Kean then count?

Something very fishy here...

Oh, never mind. It only gives extra votes to the RAT candidate. Sorry. Move along...

"Go back to a paper ballot that requires a black ink mark to be made next to the name of the candidate being voted for."

Yes. I would like a paper ballot that is numbered and produces a carbon copy for the voter to keep. In that manner if votes are altered we would have a positive paper trail to follow if irregularities are charged.

The problem with electronic voting is the machine does exactly what the programmer tells it to do. Not necessarily what the voter tells it to do. I do not trust them.

These electronic voting schemes and machines need to be tossed in the two oceans. Go back to a paper ballot that requires a black ink mark to be made next to the name of the candidate being voted for

and purple fingers.

I am grateful to live in a rural area - and we still have the simple paper ballot and old wooden ballot box...

Sounds like voters aren't pressing the vote button when they are done so the vote is incomplete. The next voter comes in and this is what he sees. The voting machines aren't broken. The Dems operating the voting machines are broken.

If that were so then the other lights on issues/people they voted for would be lit too - but seems ONLY the light for Menendez is lit and wont go off until pressed - giving him double votes - PERIOD - sounds like maybe some people have been schooled in how to set this up. Vote for Menendez then get his name up again so the next voter can't do anything until he has pressed - and given an extra vote - to Menendez???

Yes. What's wrong with the paper ballot anyway? I voted for the first time in Colorado this year *previously lived in Illinois), and voted paper ballot (blacken the oval) an hour ago. It was soooo simple.

They probably heard him speak and couldn't push the button. I know that we are supposed to be hoping for this seat, but I truly hope that we can keep the Senate without this idiot. He reminds me of South Carolina Senator...(forgot his name). I absolutely can't stand Keane speaking! Besides he is NOT conservative. I accept all blasts!

I really think Republican voters in these Democrat areas should start bringing video cameras to the polls with them - these things need to be documented and released to the media. The national media will ignore them, but you can usually get local media to report on them.

The cameras will probably need to be somewhat concealed, but when the Democrat machine is against you, proof needs to be in pictures and video.

Frankly speaking, there is no easy way to subvert the process if a paper ballot is used. That's why electronics were introduced.

Do we actually believe that the Powers That Be want to save trees by eliminating paper ballots? Right.

Wow! You may have just nailed it! That is a very plausible scenario.

then why aren't the lights for the other candidates/issues they are also voting on also lit up????

Sometimes the facts hurt. Throwing Nutball financial theories into this thread leaves me extremely unimpressed with YOU.

BTW if you believe that was a "tirade" you have led a sheltered life. Your inability to respond in a coherent fashion is noted.

One problem, says Sheridan, is that voters apparently don't realize that in order to deselect a vote for a candidate on the new machines, they need to touch the icon for that candidate, and then touch the screen again to select the icon of the candidate for which they want to cast a vote.

What in the hell kind of system is that?

I am waiting for the end results...I saw several elections when I was living in GA totally buck the trend and catch people off guard and I am hoping this is one of those times!
