That's high-tech compared to ours. We make an X in the box next to the one we want to vote for and the moderator, the town clerk and the ballot clerks count them after the polls close. All done manually. #2 pencil and paper. Pretty much foolproof.

Actually, not quite so foolproof as evidenced by a Rockford IL election whose outcome was swayed by the fact that some voters used checkmarks (which don't count) instead of X's (which do). The instructions on the ballot were absolutely explicit on this point, and a judge ruled that throwing out ballots marked with something other than "X" was entirely proper.

Thankfully I don't live anywhere near Illinois. "Voter intent" rules the day here.

Why 'thankfully'? If a voter intended to put an X in the box, and it's a little off center, that's fine. If the voter intended to mark in a ballot in a way he was explicitly told not to, that's too bad.

Telling voters they can mark the ballot however they want and it will probably count is far worse than letting them know that there is one proper way to do it, and anything else will be rejected.

Funny, but I don't seem to remember too many headlines about "voting irregularities" here in NH.

He's going to jail huh. No surprise to me,that's where most Democrap voters either come from, are at the present or ultimately end up.And come to think of it that's where most Democrap politicians belong !!!

If it were known that people were sentenced to YEARS for crap like this or the Milwaukee tire slashers (2004) it might be a deterrent.

Since many men and women have given their LIVES to obtain and protect our right to vote, can anyone explain why interference with our democratic process is not a capital offense?
