GOP Senate Incumbents Lose in Pa., Ohio
Updated 9:16 PM ET November 7, 2006
By TOM RAUM
WASHINGTON (AP) - Democrats, seizing on voter unrest over the Iraq war, defeated incumbent Republicans in Ohio and Pennsylvania on Tuesday in a bid to take control of the Senate.
In Pennsylvania, Democrat Bob Casey, son of a popular former governor, defeated incumbent Sen. Rick Santorum, a conservative and third-ranking member of the Senate GOP leadership. Democratic Rep. Sherrod Brown beat GOP incumbent Mike DeWine in Ohio, a state where Republican scandals was devastating for the party.
Sen. Joseph Lieberman, the Democrats' vice presidential candidate in 2000 but running as an independent after losing the Democratic primary, kept his seat from Connecticut.

I think they are calling this much too early.
I really do think Santorum has enough support in the smaller rural counties of Pennsylvania.

The fact that Santorum even made it interesting is a tribute to his scrappy campaigning skills. This race was lost a year ago, as Santorum's association with Bush and his social conservatism dragged him down. It is tragic.

Why bother holding elections when the MSM (aka dinosaur media) declares the winners before the votes are even cast.

Even if we lose, and it's too soon to say we will, we should not indulge in inane recriminations. We've been in a long war, and the Democrats and the MSM have done their best to persuade people that the war is lost. That's most certainly why we're not doing so well. Not Rove. The only winners tonight if the Democrats win are the people they've been encouraging in Iraq and in al Qaeda. If the Democrats win Congress, they'll have to come to grips with that. They'll also have to come to grips with the fact that their victory won't end the war with IslamoNazis. Their supporters will find out how cheap their promises were.

I thought it was now illegal to declare winners before the polls close in California!
Ummm...for President. Not for state-elected offices.

Are the voters in PA stark raving mad? How can anyone in their right mind vote for Casey? Hopefully Santorum will soar ahead when more votes are in.

And actually I'm rather dubious it's "illegal" - would be some serious free speech issues there.

They are calling damned early, not even 2 hours after polls closed, and less than 10% of official returns in...
Exit polling based.. wonder if its going to hold up.. of more retractions by am?
To: AmeriBrit
A lot of former Reagan Democrats in PA despise Bush and despise the Iraq War.
People need to get out of their bubbles and actually meet and talk to people that don't share their political beliefs.

DeWine deserves to lose. Santorum doesn't.

Bless you!! Make no mistake, I will live to fight another day. I am exhausted and heartsick. But once I've had a good night's sleep, I WILL carry on with my new project which involves educating as many people as I can about the realities of that which is going on in this sick world. Not to worry! I am a most determined woman. Little gets me down in the long run!
But thanks for the reminder. I'm grateful!
