Bush got the message from the voters loud and clear.

I hope it was the message they intended to send.

Bush needs to give him a different title, recess appoint him, and let him serve in the position. Or, name me as recess appointee, Bolton as my assistant, and I will step out of the way and let him do the job.

"Y'all can thank God that I'm not the President." I think I will. The President is still the sworn chief executive of the United States. I assume he'll continue to take his oath seriously and not succumb to childish temper tantrums.

I smell Carl Rove in the background: taking away the low-hanging fruit from the dems before they take power.

John Bolton is the single best figure in the Bush Administration. The only acceptable excuse for Bolton leaving is that he genuinely wants to leave -- and only if President Bush then nomimates someone just like him.

Hell, son, I just figured out that the America I thought I knew has been dead for almost 40 years. The corpse is still twitching, that's all.

The traitorous rabble known as "the American electorate" voted to stab the troops in the back for the second time in a generation. As for me and my house, we're getting out of the "defending America" business as rapidly as possible while staying within the letter of the law, and we're getting the hell away from major cities. Want to see the future? Reread Pat Frank's "Alas, Babylon."

There's still 2 months before the new Senate takes office.

That's two months to push Bolton to the floor, and see if the democrats filibuster to push him to the next senate (they probably will, but given he hasn't done so bad, maybe they don't need to play politics with him now that they won).

Anyway, he could be put in a non-confirmable slot and left as "acting" ambassador until we find another guy, maybe Ric Santorum, to do the job.

Uhh, how do you know Bush won't just recess appoint him again?

The Rats don't have anything on Bush other than he has to go with confirmations he can get with them in power. I'm sure the Rats have already handed Bush the list of who they want gone and who they will or won't confirm.

That might be cathartic, but it wouldn't be very constructive. :p

It will happen. He was a recess appointment and his term will be done when the newly elected Congress is in session.

If President Bush could not carry a simple UN Ambassador nomination, with a full Republican majority, then the results in the next few months will be well deserved.

We fought very hard for the Republican party since 1994, only to have it "pissed away" when they were granted the opportunity to make real changes.

Perhaps this is a good thing, as a reminder for the Republican party as to who they were working for.

Personally, if you want to know why I am so upset with the "party of limited government", simply visit your local major airport.
