I know some illegals who've been here more than 20 years

If they have been here that long they had several chances to become citizens under the 1986 plan and its extensions

Hey, that wasn't my quote.

I was replying to #21

I DON'T KNOW ANYONE personally who is here illegally.

My parents both emigrated from Montreal in the early 40's and had to learn English and assimilated and became Naturalized Citizens and proud AMERICANS.

Its time for our Congress to do their job and solve this problem both for now and for the future.

That is almost a verbatim quote from 1986.

I get all that. I am not pulling for amnesty. I am just saying, what is a logical solution?

This is a SERIOUS problem as I am sure we agree. Look at how it is effecting even our elections. "Californicators", love the cheep labor, but can't stand to live next door to these people, so they have moved to Oregon (my home state that they have hijacked) Colorado, Arizona, Nevada etc. and are turning these Red states purple.

Anyway, does anyone REALLY have an answer? Round them all up and send them back, while it sounds great, is not plausible anymore.

Yes, handle it just like Mexico does. :)

She is NOT officially Speaker yet.

She's NOT????

Gee, wonder why W had breakfast with her on Wed and had her to the oval office and then for a televised Q & A session?

Don't recall seeing ANYONE in the House even whispering their disagreement, did you.

It's a DONE DEAL

You are making sense. I just get annoyed with my fellow Conservatives who think we can "round 'em up" and drive them home in some sort of human cattle drive.

Require those that are here to do what it takes to become citizens, start collecting their tax dollars, stop letting them live off the system and close the border NOW!!!!

"Actually, I think they would equate their good fortune with the Pubbies because Bush was the man who gave it to them. Who knows..."

Yeah, sure. Just like they sneaked in because they wanted to assimilate and become just like Americans. Look at LA or Chicago for God's sake! This is what you're getting. They are not grateful for the opportunity, they think it's a birthright. And they vote Democratic, do some research.

"Seriously though, what does anyone around here propose we do with 12 million of these people? There is NO way you can send them all back."

You don't have to. If you make life uncomfortable enough, they will go back. These are not starving refugees running for their lives. Mexico is the one of the richest countries in the world. Do some research. Most had jobs before they left Mexico. They are coming here because Bush and his ilk are inviting them here, and making it well worth their while. I don't blame them, but I know we don't have to round them all up and deport them. We have to remove all the incentives, and they will go home. WE HAVEN'T EVEN TRIED!

"I'm beginning to think they don't care."

Do you think Bush has been a grassroots president?

No. Of course he does not care.

he cares about the check pants big business Republicians that want cheap mexican labor.

That faction of the party has been around a long time. But I think it did make the Republicans a minority party.

Recall the vigorous years of opposition under firebrand Bob Michel? Talk about lapdogs...

You are out of your mind . You don't have to round them up.

CUT OFF THEIR ILLEGAL BENEFITS AND THEY WILL GO HOME.

WON'T MAKE A BIT A DIFFERENCE.

Of course you are right.
Too many Republicans are for amnesty/open-borders anyway.
The war is over and they've won.

I wouldn't be suprised that Dubya's first thought after the
Senate and House went Dem was
"NOW I can get that Amnesty passed. I'll be the first guy to be
President of the USA and then El Presidente de Mexico!"

Now that Republicans lost the House the road is wide open to illegal amnesty.

Not if we keep pressure on both parties NOT to give amnesty or a guest worker program. We must not give up!
