Now that Republicans lost the House the road is wide open to illegal amnesty.
But then I know some illegals who've been here more than 20 years, and would like to see them stay and get a chance to become citizens.
So it's become a personal issue with me.
I'll let you know when I do. You?
This gives the new potential conservative minority leadership their first chance to show us what they are made of. Stand strong for principle and get the message out to the people. Many Democrats out here don't like amnesty any more than we do. A good rallying point if there ever was one.
They can in the senate, but not the house. This bill will have a good chance of passing. The republican house was the only thing that stopped it and it's gone.
Why would they oppose amnesty? It nets them millions of votes they wouldn't even have to dig up every two years.
"Over the last two years, people who have been in my position on immigration have done well, and people who have been more extreme have done badly," said Rep. Chris Cannon, a Utah Republican who backs a guest-worker plan."
Cannon in glee for cheaper labor for his companies.
What about Bilbray?
Hayworth not out yet.
I think Tancredo's pessimism on the worker plan is wrong, though the unions will promote amnesty.
"I think at some point someone will share with the President that he just lost both houses of Congress because he ticked off the Conservatives with this sort of crap."
Don't you realize he doesn't care? Never did.
Looks like Bush finally got the Congress he always wanted.
Sad.
HOW MUCH????
YOU NAME IT AND WE'LL LET SOMEONE HOLD IT.
IN FACT, I'LL GIVE YOU 10 - 1 ODDS.
If those are real Blue Dogs who just got elected...shamnesty will be halted FAST.
Blue Dogs???
When Nacy says jump or roll over, those "blue dogs" will turn into "lap dogs" faster, than you can say ALPO!!!
P-40 He's already killed off the Republican party.
Do u realize how unusual it is for senate seats to turn over?
VERY unusual, yet we have lost 6 seats in one night.
I bet there's one senator who sweating now. Lindsey Graham has just seen
how fast a seat can be lost. he's up in 08 and I predict he's a goner.
Not unusual in the 6th year of a presidency.
"Democrats are nothing if they aren't poll watchers. Somehow I think the Democrats are going to take one look at the poll numbers, and do something Bush and the Republicans were for some reason unable to do. Make the shrewd political maneuver."
I think Tancredo is jumping the gun here. No kind of Amnesty or Worker Program ever passed the House. And a lot of Dems voted for the enforcement bill. Plenty of lefty sites are not for this either, and it was never discussed in the public arena before the Senate passed their quickie bill.
Nancy could milk this to show Bush's failure to show real intent to protect us first.
You think Nancy is going to run over ALL those newly elected Dems...I don't think so. She is NOT officially Speaker yet. They can wipe her out power-wise if they so choose. There are 44 of them according to a post in here last night. What if they prefer a less pushy, male Speaker? She doesn't get it just because of seniority.
I know, she got them there, now they have to obey. (Maybe I am being HIGHLY optimistic)
"If those are real Blue Dogs who just got elected...shamnesty will be halted FAST."
Those "blue dogs" will be morphing into good socialists by the time they are sworn in in January. They just spray-painted that blue on for the election and the rubes who voted for them fell for it. Then the red dogs will get blue again for the '08 election. We've seen it in Texas for years.
Not senate seats my friend. Maybe house seats.
Senate seats rarely turn over.
