On the other hand, it's not bad for conservatives. The Democrats will vote together on procedural votes, but not on anything else, and the Republicans still have a solid core. If we can split the Democrat loonies from the solid Dem conservatives, then we will win more than we lose in this lame-duck Congress.

Ole Heath and the other 26 that ran on conservative values that won are in for a huge rude awakening, if they think that they will have any kind of voice within the Democrat party.

These fools have sold their souls for a vote and power!

The "new" democrats basically use fraud to get elected. They run and win as GOP lite, but when they get to DC they are beholden to pelosi and emmanuael and will vote their radical leftist line.

Wouldn't Heath Shuler and other "so-called Blue Dogs" beholden to George Soros?

If so, they'll have no choice but to listen to Nancy Pelosi or else their campaign funds for 2008 would be cut.

O'Bama, talked conservative once, voted otherwise.

Reading and understanding what they are supporting?

Those things that get slipped in at the last moment....

My fiscal orientation says taxes are going up, dramatically.

My first teaching lesson; Hidden Tax.

I'm going to point out the obvious increases to alot of folks,

who thought voting 'against the war', was on the ballot.

I can get by on paying 75% of my wages for taxes, because I have always had to be frugal,

and will teach other wage earners how high taxes diminish income and opportunities.

This is one concrete angle I am interested in working at, and,

am blessed with you all to help keep me informed with facts.

Unfortunately, I suspect that many were as conservative as they need to be to win the election, but will all fall in line behind San Fran Nan.

I'll cut these guys some slack until we see how they vote. Don't forget, the last time the dems pushed gun control for example, a sufficient number of dems voted against it to kill the bill.

Here in North Alabama, we have a 'blue dog' (Bud Cramer). Bud will not vote for gun control. He learned his lesson in -94. Bud voted for all the Clinton gun control stuff in 92/93. We had a very weak republican run against him in -94. Bud only won by 100 or so votes. You could still find a few "Gun Ban Bud' billboards 10 years later. Bud has voted the straight NRA line since and wins by very large margins.

Even Bill Clinton said gun control cost the dems the house. I just don't see the dems forcing these guys to repeat this same mistake.

I heard Newt Gingrich outline a solid strategy for the Republicans during the next term: introduce and support legislation that supports the conservative issues the Blue Dogs campaigned on. If the Blue Dogs support it, it will split them from the leftists. If they don't, they'll have to answer to the voters in 2 years.

They could do it if they stick together

The conservative Democrats, or new Democrats as they are sometimes called

Actually they are the real OLD Democrats. As they were before 1960s. If Democratic party returns to the old New Deal formula, they will get Reagan Democrats back and secure their hold on power for a long long time.

It will be very interesting to see how these Blue Dogs actually vote. I am sure Hillary and the Dems have their own "dirt" on these guys if they have to use it to get them in line.

Another demonstration that there is no difference between the two major parties. The downward spiral, trashing the Constitution for the united States in the descent, continues....and continues....and continues....

Does anyone here believe there is such a thing as a "conservative" dem? If any of you do, you must be blind, stupid, or dim witted.

When the voting starts in the House, they will vote like a liberal because the ARE liberals.

If people voted for them thinking they are some kind of new dem., then the people of this country are even more stupid then I could have imagined.

When the SS division of the ATF comes crashing through the door of that dem. voter who thought they were voting for a conservative ... only at that moment before he and his family are butcher by sub-machine gun fire because of an unregistered Daisy BB gun, only then will he have realized his mistake.
