One boy was shot in the head and the other in the chest, I guess this dad wasnt taking any chances.
No mention of any misses. I guess he was cool headed and a good shot.

Sounds like the two boys were spoiling for a fight when they went to the Garcia's house. Maybe the Dad was shooting to protect his son.
No one should make any assumptions about the legality of the Garcias. For all we know their family could have been here for a hundred years, legal all the time.
