Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority
And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
When they first came back, after the election, DeWine go up and I swear he spent an hour talking about the fallen soldiers from his state.
I appreciate that he cares enough to do that...but an HOUR...and now today, he was doing the same thing.
I just can't take that...had to change also.
BTW..I just saw a blurb for an upcoming story on Fox News that shows Poppa Bush starting to cry while giving a speech...supposedly over his son..(but, which son)..Jeb ran to the podium to help him, bless his heart.
hey hey...freepmail..
It was Jeb. He was talking about Jeb's loss when he ran against Lawton Chiles and how well he handled that and then he just broke down.
Imagine how he feels over how George is treated.
I got tears watching that....he can't be handling George's treatment well...but, I sure can't understand his "friendship" with Bubba either...ugh.

I looked on FR for a thread about this and didn't find one.
I was looking for something to watch earlier, and I saw a replay of this presser with John McCain, Feingold, Shays, Meehan and Susan Collins.
I couldn't hear the whole thing, since my itty bitty one was playing quite loudly...but, I got the gist of it...and so I went looking.
McCain and Feingold are at it again, wanting more legislation..
Lieberman and Collins are all upset that they can't get the votes for an "Office of Public Integrity" that would be apart from the Congress...
Feinstein has her own plans...and Obama has his own plans, which are very strict sounding, re: getting money for travel and such.
I find the part about Obama especially interesting since he was spending last night with THE MONEY BAGS of the Dem party, George Soros...LOL
Anyway, I just thought I would post this...since I didn't see any article or thread on FR..and thought you guys might be interested.
It was really pitiful watching these people moaning about not getting their bills passed...BUT, if you didn't know better, you would think that Shays, McCain, and Snow were dems, because they were all excited about getting this done ASAP after the new Congress starts...hehehe
I've been watching them pump for this for some time. It is yet another false, feel good proposal to give the impression that they are now, suddenly, going to be policed. It won't be "apart" from the Congress who will fund the thing, with our money, of course. Well, unless they appoint you and me to the thing.
Well...Lieberman and Collins can get their "Office of Public Integrity"....and Kucinich can get his "Department of Peace"...
And we can all go barefoot and sing Joan Baez songs...and the terrorists will like us then.
LOL. I used to have a guitar and a Baez book of songs. "Just a little rain, falling all around..." I got better.
I'd rather just drink myself silly before doing that
A lot less painful
LOL...you can tell we three all lived through that era...
I did NOT make it to Woodstock, too young, but I remember watching the movie at a Drive-in theater, sitting in the back of a pick-up....with some girl friends...and when Sly and the Family Stone came on...
I want to tell you, we got DOWN!!!! We thought that was the coolest thing...
LOL
Naaaaa .. I was only 5 yrs old at the time of Woodstock ... but I've heard the stories
LOL....just as I hit the post button I remembered just how young your kids are...and therefore YOU are..
I am sorry I included you in my generation...bless your heart...I didn't mean to hurry it up for you!!
Bah...I know you have gone to bed...but, since I missed a lot of the hearing, I am watching the part I missed...and unfortunately, that meant sitting through Hillbilly.
She truly is a b!tch!! The way she questioned the intelligence, patriotism, and concern for our country of Pres. Bush, VP Cheney, and Rummy to someone who hasn't even been in Washington for the last few years...was disgraceful.
It certainly wasn't the type of behaviour that one would want the POTUS/CIC to have in an open and worldwide seen hearing.
Bah....I saw Jim Talent's questioning of Mr. Gates...and I had a lump in my throat...he was so passionate about what he was saying and trying to get Mr. Gates to understand....and all I could think of was, that skank Claire McCaskill will be taking his place !!!
I am listening to Rusty Humphries radio show..and he just finished calling Pres. Bush and his father "candy asses"....and mentioned Poppa Bush crying during that speech about his son...and said "quit crying, stand up and be a man"...."if I could physically get to the present Pres. Bush, I would shake him and tell him to grow up and be a man!"
Oh...yeah---I need to hear this, after listening to Hillary at the hearing.
I will be going to bed now......sigh
The Kos Kids don't seem to happy about Gates

Natcherly.
What a horrid end to your day.
I don't know anything about Rusty Humphries but I would merrily give him a smack on the nose.
As for the Hildebeast, saints preserve us.
