Senate Coverage -- (November - December '06)

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority
And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Do you know what I heard Bill O'Reilly say today..on his radio show?
He said that some poll had Hillary having 41% of Americans that said they would NEVER vote for her.
He said that was the highest of all of the potential candidates except Newt...he said Newt had the highest WON'T VOTE FOR poll numbers of the GOP....but he didn't say what percentage.
That doesn't sound good for Newt for POTUS..but for RNC Chairman..he would be great..

I saw that....and I had heard about the Rummy thing in Germany...but not the story about Gonzalez.
I betcha 10 bucks that that is on their list..right under impeaching President Bush and VP Cheney...
All of the talk about "reducing the deficit..and holding down spending" that the dems used in the campaign should have been followed by a laugh track...but, if you listen to even a LOT of conservatives on the radio, President Bush is the WORST of all of them....sigh

How in the world will he have time to oversee the RNC? Oh, wait, I forgot, he's a Senator. He probably has plenty of time!
You know, I have taken up both cooking and scrapbooking, since I can't garden until spring. I may have to pick up another hobby as well, just to keep my mind off all of this stuff.

I understand why Norm Coleman is going to bat for farm aid for his area, but he illustrates perfectly how all of the Katrina "compassionate spending" is coming back to bite us in the @ss. We didn't use any economic criteria to decide to throw money at that one because we "cared", so if we don't throw money at this one, it means we don't care.
