Senate Coverage -- (November - December '06)
THOMAS ^ | November - December '06

Posted on 11/13/2006 12:09:41 PM PST by Mo1

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority

And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Thanks, Sleuthy. :-)

Saw your ping on Mark Levin. I've been interested in Bush's noncommittal comments about the Iraq Study Group the last couple of days.

My fingers are crossed that he will tell them to go pound sand. &&&

See ya tomorrow. :-)

Evan Bayh is a bleeping moron ... he's asking if we say in Iraq, aren't we giving the terrorist a reason to fight us

The General had to point out the terrorists will fight and attack us wherever we go

When you listen to Bayh...and not watch him speak..he sounds kind of "whiney"..not nearly as bad as Lieberman..but that whine is there..

ooopsy.

I saw a poster complaining last night about how their state, and other southern and western states are having to pay extra..because of the health care, education, etc for illegal immigrants...and it isn't fair..because not all states have to.

I thought about this bill by the people in North Dakota and elsewhere, that are wanting "katrina money" for their drought.

I figured we could call it even...ALL states have something that "isn't fair".....lol

Yeppers....Conrad read the notes from yesterday..when Frist said they would take up the Ag Bill today...

Conrad is very upset that he has to stop the Senate to bring this up....lol

BTW...for some reason, it is really making me uncomfortable (I can't explain why)...when Frist gets up and talks about what "they need to get done"...

Of course he can carry on...business as usual...he is walking away..and it is getting on my nerves.

I sorta wish he would just let McConnell take over now...because McConnell needs to establish himself as the leader...because it will be HE that has to worry about what doesn't get done in this lame duck session.

Boy...I need to get rid of this little glob of bitterness I am still suffering from....LOL

Conrad was saying earlier that in years past...there was 8 and 9 Billion dollars appropriated for disaster relief...

But, they are only talking about 3 billion for 2 years, right now.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...I guess that "fiscal responsibility" that the dems ran on...just went out the window..in 2 days.
