Fox News reportersfreed for $2 million

JERUSALEM – Palestinian terror groups and security organizations in the Gaza Strip received $2 million from a United States source in exchange for the release of Fox News employees Steve Centanni and Olag Wiig, who were kidnapped here last summer, a senior leader of one of the groups suspected of the abductions told WND.

The terror leader, from the Gaza-based Popular Resistance Committees, said his organization's share of the money was used to purchase weapons, which he said would be utilized "to hit the Zionists."

He said he expects the payments for Centanni and Wiig's freedom will encourage Palestinian groups to carry out further kidnappings.

Officials associated with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party and its security organization, the Preventative Security Services, confirmed to WND money was paid for the release of the Fox News reporters.

A senior leader of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group, the declared "military wing" of Fatah, said the group received a small percentage of the $2 million, which all parties interviewed said was transferred in cash.

Makes me wonder how many times this has happened to CNN or BBS
and hasn't been reported.

Good for him but bad for us. Now they have $2 million more to continue their mayhem. I must say, if he were my relative I wouldn't hesitate in giving the ransom. But it's still a victory for them, nonetheless.

I don't doubt it but the source doesn't confirm it to me either.

Well, the going rate now is 2 million for 2 Fox reporters, I wonder how much 2 CNN reporters will go for.

We'll, I'm willing to chip in $2 million if the terrorists promise to keep CNN reporters locked up. ;-)

Couldn't we just have traded them Greta?

Okay, I'd throw in Jerry Rivers too.

Yes, let’s just set a precedence here. Don’t get me wrong; I would hate to see anyone die in a situation like this. However, the members of the press corps know the dangers going in. Paying for kidnapped news people will defiantly encourage the enemy.

Israel is foolish to allow these newsfolk to stay in Israel and cross over to Gaza or wherever. Let them get to Gaza some other way.

"CNN and BBS pay tributes"

Yup, and give them favorable if not
sympathetic reporting. Why would anyone
want to alienate western versions of
Al-Jazeera??..JJ61

I would not wish Greta on my worst enemy. Come to think of it, the Al-qaida fruitcakes are our worst enemy … give them Greta … within a week Al-qaida would give us 2 mil. to take here back.

Take her back, now that would take a lot of thinking and at least 5 mil., at best.

I remember praying every night and waking up to a sick feeling every morning wondering if we would see video of Steve and Olaf being executed that day.

While I do not support governments paying ransoms I understand why Fox did. If they were in my employ I would have done the same.

Jennifer Griffin and company did a phenomenal job in reminding the Palis that they were dependent on the media to tell their story. Since then no journalists have been harmed. That's a good thing.
