JERUSALEM Palestinian terror groups and security organizations in the Gaza Strip received $2 million from a United States source in exchange for the release of Fox News employees Steve Centanni and Olag Wiig, who were kidnapped here last summer, a senior leader of one of the groups suspected of the abductions told WND.
The terror leader, from the Gaza-based Popular Resistance Committees, said his organization's share of the money was used to purchase weapons, which he said would be utilized "to hit the Zionists."
He said he expects the payments for Centanni and Wiig's freedom will encourage Palestinian groups to carry out further kidnappings.
Officials associated with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party and its security organization, the Preventative Security Services, confirmed to WND money was paid for the release of the Fox News reporters.
A senior leader of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group, the declared "military wing" of Fatah, said the group received a small percentage of the $2 million, which all parties interviewed said was transferred in cash.

More money to kidnap and kill others.

Oh great, this will certainly send a message to the terrorists to stop...
To: RDTF
Makes me wonder how many times this has happened to CNN or BBS
and hasn't been reported.

Good for him but bad for us. Now they have $2 million more to continue their mayhem. I must say, if he were my relative I wouldn't hesitate in giving the ransom. But it's still a victory for them, nonetheless.

I don't doubt it but the source doesn't confirm it to me either.

Okay, I'd throw in Jerry Rivers too.

Yes, lets just set a precedence here. Dont get me wrong; I would hate to see anyone die in a situation like this. However, the members of the press corps know the dangers going in. Paying for kidnapped news people will defiantly encourage the enemy.

Israel is foolish to allow these newsfolk to stay in Israel and cross over to Gaza or wherever. Let them get to Gaza some other way.

give them Greta
within a week Al-qaida would give us 2 mil. to take here back.
Take her back, now that would take a lot of thinking and at least 5 mil., at best.

I remember praying every night and waking up to a sick feeling every morning wondering if we would see video of Steve and Olaf being executed that day.
While I do not support governments paying ransoms I understand why Fox did. If they were in my employ I would have done the same.
Jennifer Griffin and company did a phenomenal job in reminding the Palis that they were dependent on the media to tell their story. Since then no journalists have been harmed. That's a good thing.

Really? The rest of the world is glad you don't employ folks that are sent to these areas. And if you do, you need to wake up and see the big picture.
Amazing.

Maybe we could trick Greta into going by hinting that a young blonde girl has mysteriously disappeared in the Mideast. We'd never see her again.
To: RDTF
Have you noticed any other journalists being kidnapped in Gaza lately? No? Oh I guess it didn't cause the avalanche of kidnappings you seem to think it would have.
If you think there is a single private employer out there who wouldn't have done the same you are fooling yourself. Evidently YOU would be the only one.

Conventional wisdom says not to give in to terrorists demands because it will breed more terrorism--and this is right. On the other hand it is hard to avoid the temptation to give in under certain circumstances, so by itself this bit of wisdom will not overcome terrorism.
Winning requires three things:
1) We must have good human intelligence so we know not only who to blame, but know what there ultimate cause is.
2) We must take harsh vengeance on the cause the terrorists are fighting for.
3) We must consistently promote this policy as a warning: harsh vengence to your people and your cause is the direct effect of the terrorism.
Doing anything less is inhumane and immoral.

Where's the reference to Daniel Pearl?
Is the "balanced" counterpoint to this how Pearl was decapitated? Is the point-counterpoint supposed to be pay the terrorist or kill the journalists, except that we must forget about what happened to Daniel Pearl?
Or is it different for FNC journalists?
