To reiterate for those in Rio Linda, he won't be running the RNC, Mike Duncan will be the chairman.

I don't live in Rio Linda...but, until I saw the clip of President Bush, Martinez and Jo Ann Davis today..I DIDN'T know that he was just going to be the "official" chairman...but not be responsible for the work...

But, I HOPE that Duncan is an "attack dog"...because someone needs to show some kink of enthusiasm or anger or something...but, blah isn't going to win the White House and Congress in 2 years.

Also...he said that the party made a mistake about immigration...but, he didn't say in what way...hmmmmmm

The GOP use to have awesome ads online. Most of the best ones in 2004 came from YouTubers and the GOP distanced itself from them and even banned the best ones it had.

A shame

Does anyone else feel like this is 1996, and we're running Bob Dole again?

What is all this attack stuff. I want the RNC to fight back with force. It is known as sticking up for yourself and your party. Getting a spine. Not being a door mat. Etc., etc., etc..

Martinez sees himself as a hero of Latin causes. A uniter.

Bush does, too.

Big mistake. Latins of various countries hate latins,

Puerto Ricans hate Dominicans.

Cubans hate Puerto Ricans.

They all hate Mexicans, except Jamaicans.

Latins are amazingly against other latins.

And Martinez is a fool.

***He said there was an agreement not to show preferences for any candidate in the 2008 presidential campaign before the party's nominee was chosen, allowing the field to sort itself out.***

If Martinez sticks to this...

...and the RNC/Bush doesn't throw support behind any candidate in the primary

...and they allow the field to sort itself out

then I can support Martinez's nomination. Though I am disappointed that it can't be someone who is more experienced in what the job calls for.

Martinez...said on Tuesday he would not be an "attack dog"

Heck no, an attack dog has a use.

Let's recap what the R's have done in reaction to the election:

  1. Bush has welcomed the Dems, saying that unlike the Republicans they share his only priority, amnesty for criminal aliens and a slave-labor program for industry.

  2. He's named a guy who won't even be able to hold his own seat as RNC head.

  3. House R's have committed to the same, ethically challenged leadership that threw their majority away. Including Boehner, whose priority is... defending earmarks, and...

  4. Blunt, who was out of the office... schmoozing with the lobbyists who own him.

They must be supremely confident that the Democrats are going to mess up by the numbers. Or perhaps they're perfectly happy to be in the minority. They could, as Denny Hastert's impassioned defence of William "Freezer Bag" Jefferson made clear, care less about party or principle, as long as they personally got their share of the loot.

d.o.l.

Of course he won't be an attack dog. Because he's simply a token. An affirmative action pick by an administration that seems to have come around to the view Liberals are on the right track in elevating people based on skin color vs qualifications. 'Cause those darn naive Hispanic commoners are going to see Mel leading the RNC in name only, and well, Republicans will get 60% of the Hispanic vote gosh darn it! Just like they locked up that Jewish vote with Mehlman in charge, right? Because ideas and actions mean NOTHING at all compared to ones bloodline and skin color.

For the record I thought Mehlman did a good job with what he was given to work with, but the point is that this tactic by the admin disgusts me. A person's race is NOT supposed to be the main criteria for their advancement. It's a reverse discrimination that makes Washingtonians FEEL good but in reality is a mockery of the so called equal rights they claim to champion.

I supported Condi because she was capable. I don't like Powell's beliefs, but he was qualified. I supported Steele because he was certainly qualified. Ditto Estrada. I've seen NOTHING to recommend Martinez's selection. He didn't win his election so much as Jeb won it for him. Since then he has done nothing to recommend himself in the Senate, unlike other freshman such as Thune and Coleman. Everyone knows why the President has selected him, and it is more obvious by the fact they are letting it be known the daily operations aren't in his hands.

So much for looking past one's color, race or religion.

Martinez is a strong supporter of amnesty for illegals and that is why Bush appointed him. Bush is determined to obtain amnesty for illegals even if it means destroying the Republican Party.
