I will never, ever forget the she-dogs whose first response to the 9/11 atrocities was to don a scarf to show their support for "women of cover" (puke). They were smugly congratulating themselves on how obviously and publicly better than everyone else they are : "See? We're wearing scarves to show our support for Our Moslem Sisters. Everyone else in this country but us is a racistxenophobicneandertal, who'll go around killing moslems by the dozens any minute now. " This is more of that same selfcongratulatory (and ultimately suicidal) mindset : Showing sympathy for people whose religion gives them the right to kill, convert, and enslave everyone who is not a coreligionist , AND utter contempt for everyone who does NOT share their own rarified views on patriotism, self defense, etc, to the point of condemning them automatically as bloodthirsty killers.

I could care less about the oppressive religion of Islam. It is the supremacist political philosophy of Islam that bothers me.

Is it Indian muslims who wear turbans or do some Hindus wear them too?

And it is disturbing that in the light of no motive it is assumed to be a hate crime. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Sounds like a CAIR-like propaganda effort.

No one speaks out against the hate crimes being perpetrated by muslim terrorists against US troops and friendly muslims in Iraq. It is assumed that "we deserved it".

Someone needs to market a biker's do rag with the caricature of Mohammend on it. See how the Islamic Facists deal with Hells Angels and the Harley Gang...me included.

Indians who wear turbans are, by and large, neither Hindus nor Muslims, but Sikhs.

Sikhism, as I understand it, has a variety of life-vows the believers can take, the most basic and commonly taken--Khalsa--involves distinctive dress as well as undertaking certain moral/ascetic practices. (The others involve additional moral/ascetic practices.) For men, the distinctive dress includes wearing a turban, and for both men and women, not cutting their hair or beard. (My daughter's best friend at college is a Sikh.)

If you see a man with a really long beard, and a turban, tied in such a way that the edge along the forehead has a peak in the center, he's almost certainly at Sikh. If you see a man with a short, or obviously trimmed beard, or shaved mustache and beard, with a turban tied so the edge along his forehead is horizonatal, he's almost certainly a Muslim (and probability a Shi'ite, though not necessarily).

"I'm going to wear a turban with a big ol' caricature of Mohammed on it. :)"

And I'm going to go dressed like this.

Another clue: the Sikh turban covers the ears.

The point, she said, was just to cover her head with something unusual and show solidarity for people who dress differently.

Turbans are worn by Sikhs. The Sikhs are on our side.

Just add a veil in front of the turban and you can hide and go Sikh.

If I witness any non-Muslim attempting to commit a crime against a Muslim, I will act to prevent the crime so no further outpouring of sympathy for Islam will not occur.

I'll one up you...if I witness anyone attempting to commit a crime against anyone else, I will act to prevent the crime, because it's the right thing to do.You sofa king crazy. ;)

Perhaps they should wait until more details are available before this gets branded as a hate crime?

It is more likely she was killed by a fellow moslem. Some perverted "honor killing" would be a good bet.

Snort. Snicker. Chortle.

As long as I have the means to physically resist, I will never wear the garb of a Goat Shagging Sand Savage.

Besides, I would look like Joan Crawford.
