Thank you RW. Those two babies are my youngest daughter (on the right - my dad's left) and my nephew. They are about the same age. My nephew is in the Army and spent a year in Iraq with the 82nd Airborne.

Yes, Robert is home. He'll be home for another week, and then has to return to Iraq for nine months. We're hoping that he will be able to get a brief leave when we hold the memorial service for my dad early next year.

The Mansions of the Lord
Click the picture for music

To fallen soldiers let us sing
Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the Mansions of the Lord

No more bleeding, no more fight
No prayers pleading through the night
Just divine embrace, eternal light
To the Mansions of the Lord.

Where no mothers cry and no children weep
We will stand and guard though the angels sleep
Through the ages safely keep
The Mansions of the Lord.

My condolences. I hope that in time (as has happened for me) you will feel no pain at the memory of your father, but will feel happiness at having had the privelege of having him as your father.

A salute to him!

As a LEO he manned the thin line on the homefront war against crime. As such, he was a Brother Warrior just in a different battle to all Servicemen fighting foreign battles. Honors to him.

I thank you Dolly, for this wonderful response. We are blessed to have Robert home during this difficult time. Right now I'm away from home while at work, but will be off all next week for Thanksgiving. We'll spend some quality time with Robert before he has to leave to return to Iraq.

Robert has signed up on FR, but has not yet really checked this site out yet. He didn't have much time or access when in the "Sandbox", and since he's been home he's been a bit occupied with all that we've been going through. I'll encourage him to get on FR before he leaves next week.
