Among the 50 largest U.S. cities, Seattle is second only to San Francisco in the percentage of residents identifying themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual, a new study reports.
A researcher used census and other government statistics to offer an estimate of a segment of the population in cities, metropolitan areas and congressional districts nationwide whose size has only been guessed in the past.
The study reports found that 12.9 percent of Seattle residents roughly 57,900 people identified themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual. In San Francisco, 15.4 percent of residents identified themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual.
The study's findings are drawn from newly released U.S. census data on same-sex households showing that between 2000 and 2005, the reported number of gay-couple households increased by 30 percent in the United States and by 50 percent in Washington state.

That's just disgusting.

And they can have them.
Wow, sometimes when they don't mean to, they let slip information thats hurts their claims.
Follow me on this one. Homosexuals and the media have always maintained that 10% of the population is gay...yet the second largest grouping of homosexuals in a city is only 12%? And in San Fran, where so many flock to, its only 15%???
Black population of the US is apprx 12% yet in several cities they make up over 60% of the population.
IBTZ? It would be my first!
Lord. They can have them.
Seattle has to be one of the worst places in the universe for a hetro single male to try to date or seek marriage.
Not only do we deal with all the freaks, dykes, and lesbians who go out of their way to make our lives miserable, but all hetro single women have the worst entitlement syndrome I've ever seen.
The dating scene in this city is simply a trainwreck and men are especially thrown under the bus like its going out of style.
So where on the census form does it ask if one is gay, lesbian or bisexual. I must have received a different census form.
something to do with fog maybe?
Here's the question many think but don't dare ask. What is the least gay city in the US? What metrics would you use?
Right on!
Seattle is pathetic and we avoid it as much as possible. It is also known as being one of the least child-friendly cities in the country. What a surprise.
I would pay to see that study!
spot on, sir
We linked up a few years ago over the internet. I got the impression that she preferred relationships with women.
At first I felt really bad for her, tried to help, was even considering letting her stay with me for a while. When she was half a planet away we got along fine but when she stayed near me with her mother for a summer things got bad. She was always pushing her leftist aganda. Acted like a lib elite.
She moved a couple states away but we still kept in touch. Over the summer she kept pushing her leftist junk on me and finally we had a huge argument. We haven't spoken since.
The last time I spoke with her she was in Minneapolis, working in a gay bar and happier than she'd been for a long time.
Guess I know why now.

Do you want me to post the lyrics of the song he's dancing to??? (/evil grin)
That's why when you drop your keys in the City By The Bay, you should proceed to kick them across the bridge to Oakland before bending over to pick them up.
