Woman hit with chair before cops can grab 3
Thursday, November 16, 2006
By ALI WINSTON JOURNAL STAFF WRITER
Cops arrested three boys after they began beating a 35-year-old woman with a metal folding chair, reports said.
Plainclothes cops assigned to the area of Union Street and West Side Avenue in response to a recent spate of robberies in the area observed a group of four young men, one carrying a metal folding chair, at Kennedy Boulevard and Union Street around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The boys surrounded a woman, who said, "You don't know me, what are you doing this for?" At that point, one boy hit her with the metal chair, police said.
The plainclothes cops immediately intervened and the boys ran. Three of the boys - two 13-year-olds and a 12-year-old - were caught and arrested, but the fourth got away, police said.
The three boys were charged with robbery and aggravated assault, police said.

If this were a white-on-black crime it would have been on national news and the article would point it out fifty times, so we can safely assume that it was not.

I know the area well, a shithole.
Little darlings, alterboys, just poor hard working chilens out to make a living, tryimg to hep supports the famly.
This is just down the hill from where Frank Hague lived, he would have struck these little bastards dead.
To: Rumplemeyer
My father grew up in Jersey City curing the reign of Frank Hague. From the way he describes it, these boys parents would have struck them dead if the police brought them home and told the parents what they were doing, without ever asking the boys for their side of the story. Ah, for the days when parents would encourage their children to behave instead of excusing their misbehavior.

My Mothers Father, Jim Trainor, ran the Motor Pool for Hague, Oh the stories he told. It was not that you were afraid, you just where better than that, poor didn't matter, you where better than that.

Hague . . . one of the last of the old bosses . . .
. . . there was definitely a down side to his reign, but on the other hand you can see how the ordinary folks on the street in Jersey City might wish for those days back again.

The Bobby Knight example of him being chastised for touching a player's chin to get his attention and the common comment that 'we don't touch these kids'---What absolute crappola!!! Adults have abdicated their collective responsibility to correct, admonish and, if necessary, take a kid in-hand and issue corrective action on the spot. But, that's consistent with our permission to eliminate young adults' responsibility and obligation to serve their country. We've changed our culture to one that is neither maternal nor paternal but rather one that is managed for and governed by juveniles in a new sort of youths' anarchy.
I gave up trying to coach little league football or baseball. If I chewed on a kid the next and inevitable event would be a parent's indignation and accusation of all manner of wrongful conduct.

Absolutely. The one word that my Depression-era relatives who grew up in Jersey City keep mentioning because it's in such short supply these days is "nice". Not in the "be nice and tolerate everything" sense but in the people dressed well and women being able to walk home alone from Journal Square without an escourt in safety "nice" -- as in "a nice place to live".
To: Rumplemeyer
FYI, I got to experience some of what they mean by "nice" when I lived in Japan. It really put a lot of things into perspective for me.

Disgusting. These little thuglets are all over the place. When I lived in New York, I was once surrounded by a bunch of them on the subway (I'm small and obviously no threat) and everybody else on the train sat there in fear while they pushed and taunted me. Then we got to the station, the door opened and they ran off. But why should women have to put up with this?

The right to shoot to kill when attacked by anyone, even after the "attack" was terminated, would clear the streets of feral 'yutes' and feral 'adults'.

I used to live in JC. Journal Square is much better than it used to be. Where this poor lady got attacked isn't, however.
