Get over your tired line of argument. A white person calling a black person will always be offensive. Furthermore, I find the term offensive in all contents. I have never been called a "nigger" by a fellow black person. NEVER!!! Not ONCE in my 33 years of life. It is unacceptable. If I hear a black rapper or comic use that term, I cringe in disgust. If I hear a white person use it, I cringe in disgust. STOP DEFENDING THE USE OF THE WORD BY CLAIMING THAT BLACKS FIND IT ACCEPTABLE WHEN USED BY OTHER BLACKS. MOST OF US DO NOT!!! (but i'm sure you'll cotinue to justify it...)

The guy did lose it and this was bad, but unless he loses it on a regular basis, I fail to see what the big deal is.
Most of us have the luxury of being imperfect in private. He was imperfect publically.
He lost it! The most insulting part was the first thing he said about lynching. The most pathetic part was when the guys in the audience told him he was a washed up loser, and he had no response other than the infantile, "oh you got me"..

Are you black?
You give one version of the origin of the term "cracker." Another is that it originated with early Georgians who moved down into Florida where they raised longhorn cattle, which were herded with Cuban syle bullwhips, called craqueros. Supposedly, one could hear the crack of these whips from a long distance away.
These transplanted Georgians -- some of them my ancestors -- were a notably rough and eccentric lot.
He was performing onstage- why should he expect such a routine to remain private. It would be different if someone had taped a private dispute where he ended up using a racial slur. We are all human, and make mistake, but his was part of his performance, and from what I understand it went on for some time.
You don't go to Baltimore very often, do you. Baltimore is a plain talking town and this happens a lot. Actually, more than a few whites will do it too. Profanity is used a lot. Actually, most in B-more take great delight in making fun of themselves and this is true of blacks and whites. Whites have a "honfest" where they make fun of themselves.

The "cracker" line was lodged after the "nigger" tirade. The only word that the black guy could come back with.

Would you have preferred: "Mr. Black Guy...you were a called a nigger about a dozen times and also subjected to a lyching "joke," why in the world would you be so insensitive in return and lodge the "cracker" comeback? Don't you know that you are just supposed to sit there and enjoy taking your 'racial beating.'"
I want to find the clip of the person who Drudge featured last night on his radio program, calling for the elimination of all white people.
Being a Hollywood blowhard, he'll probably do a Kerry and a Foley. "The "joke" went bad - the written version says blacks are ninja's, not niggas". Then he'll do the "Foley" for good measure and go into rehab.

It's nice to know that some here are always ready to defend hate. It happened w/the Mel Gibson thing..."Why don't the Jews just get over it?" mentality. And it's happening here w/this matter. You only get offended when someone wants to ban praying in school or handing out Jesus dolls. Ironic I think.

I went on year, they have a "beauty pagent" and the winner got a year's supply of "Miss Clairol extra hold hairspray".
That's because it is a fact. I have watched several Chris Rock specials and he uses the word all the time. Many Rap stars use the word in their songs and speech and they defend it as being part of the culture and in some respects a term of endearment. Robert Byrd appeared in a 60 miniutes interview and talked about white niggers. He is still in the Senate and no one, including the Black caucus is asking him to step down.

You must cringe a lot, because the word is used often publically. Where is the disgust of the NAACP and so-called black leaders about the use of the N-word by black entertainers? I only hear laughter at these shows. No one walks out.
Did you cringe in disgust when you heard Harold Ford's father call whites crackers?. Or when the term "white boy" is used? I am not defending the use of the N word, just noting the double standard.
