The problem is many of us here are not making excuses for Michael Richard's outburst (I said that he went for the jugular and he does claim a brief victory, although it was nothing to celebrate).
I have repeatedly pointed out the double standard in the case and the aftermath.
If you use an epithet at someone on the street and he punches you in the mouth, was he provoked? Yes. Was his (the hypothetical man on the street's) response justified? Violence in response to language?
The hecklers provoked the response (they repeatedly interrupted the show). In turn, Michael Richards pushed their buttons by using racially insensitive imagery and language. As a response they responded with epithets. Was their response JUSTIFIED? Hate speech in return for hate speech?
They are no better in their hearts. And the activist at the press conference who blamed the Jews for the corporations' use of the n word in the popular movies and music of today also has a heart full of racist hate.
Minister Farakkhan has never been made to publicy apologize for his statements. Instead we are told of the good works his "millions" of followers do in becoming aware of cultural, racial, societal, and political issues.
His words of hate carry more weight because he has a cult of followers and defenders in the media and in public office. Michael Richards is a lonely comedian who will be ostracized.

Whites generally don't care what blacks say about them. That's why blacks can call whites 'cracker', 'honky', etc and the whites don't care. Blacks, however, care very much what whites say and react predictably.
The fact that Kramer reacted is more a reflection on Kramer than on whites in general. This is demonstrated by the difference in response between the black and white communities to the racial slurs that flew both ways. The whites couldn't care less what the blacks said.

"Made" how, exactly? At gunpoint? Being an anti-semite isn't illegal. If the Nation of Islam doesn't choose to discipline him or disassociate itself from his remarks, that's their choice. But he'd lost most of his credibility long before his current health crisis took him out of the public eye, and It's been years since I've seen media coverage of anything other than his latest anti-semitic rant. Certainly, no candidate is chasing his endorsement.

I don't know what media outlets you're watching, but you might want to look into some new ones.
Actually, seeing that clip, it looks very different from the clip shown at I think either ABC, NBC, or even MSNBC. In the clip I saw back when the incident occurred on that news station, it seemed to look like a security tape recording with the stage being at an angle, with Michael Richards yelling various bleeped out curses, and then topping it off with “I mean, oh, sure! Let’s go out and hunt down all those no-good mother[bleep]ers!”, and then it cutting to I think a phone-recorded apology from Michael Richards.
