LONDON - A former KGB agent turned Kremlin critic who was poisoned three weeks ago was moved into intensive care Monday after his condition deteriorated, and his doctor said the toxin has attacked his bone marrow.
Prominent Russian exiles claimed Litvinenko was poisoned at the behest of the Kremlin...
Thallium causes hair loss and interferes with the cardiovascular and nervous systems, attacking the vital organs.
Litvinenko's white cell count is down to nearly zero, said Dr. John Henry, a clinical toxicologist treating him. "It shows his bone marrow has been attacked and that he is susceptible to infection,"
Litvinenko, who has been a thorn in the Russian government's side since the late 1990s, fell ill after a meal with a contact who claimed to have details about the slaying of another Kremlin critic Anna Politkovskaya, the Russian investigative journalist who was gunned down Oct. 7 in her Moscow apartment building.
Litvinenko blamed her killing on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Somebody has asked me directly, who is guilty of Anna's death?
And I can directly answer you: it is Mr. Putin, president of the Russian Federation," he said at a meeting at a media club in London in October.
Other Russian dissidents in Britain also blamed the Kremlin for Litvinenko's condition.
"Permission to assassinate abroad can only be given from the top," Oleg Gordievsky, former deputy head of the KGB at the Soviet Embassy in London told The Associated Press.
"How can it not be state-sponsored?"...
exiled Russian dissident Boris Berezovsky was adamant that Putin, a former spy himself, was not only aware of the operation, but gave the orders.
"There's no doubt Putin gave the command to kill him," ... who claimed that Litvinenko had also been targeted a year ago, when a grenade was thrown into his home.

I betcha Dems have ordered a couple of batches from Russia...
The clear-souled Putin would never do such a thing...

Putin is a scary man. He is taking Russia backwards in a hurry.

You would think that will all the publicity from the previous murder they would lie low for awhile...
Hard to know what to think...
Yep
I know there have been a few novels that deal with this scenario, but I was wondering if someone had actually gathered all of the facts and evidence into one volume.
It's a typical Boris Berezovsky information war stunt. He is the only one who really has anything to gain from such a turn of events, and he certainly was ready with the talking points and press releases in this case.
Do you think that Boris Berezovsky arranged the poisoning ?
or he is using it politically after the fact ?
Maybe Putin can write a book about how he didn't do it, but if he had done it, this is how he would have done it. But, keep in mind, he didn't really do it.
Who do you think did the poisoning ?
Second, who do you think arranged or approved the poisoning ?

While this may not be true, it is more than possible that the FSB could have staged Anna's murder, i.e., deliberately allowing video footage of the "hired gun" and then instigating the police shooting of Colonel Movladi Baisarov. This would tie the matter up quite nicely for the FSB even if the Russian public was unsuspecting anyway.
But I do not expect you to entertain this line of thinking, of course.

"Pooty-Poot, how do I deal with this Harry Reid character now that we've lost the election?"
"Georgy-Porgy, there are ways to stifle internal dissent - you just aren't trying hard enough." ;)
What you are saying may or may not be true. However, you can go back and check my posts where I stated Russians believe he was one of the suspects prior to his being gunned down. The video does not show Colonel Baisarov.
I guess this happens when some one has no fear of being caught. Back to the old days once again.
All I am saying is let's wait on the speculations and not rush to judgement.
Despite the fact that the authorities are looking for a male killer, the person in the footage is so slight of build I think it may be a woman. Especially in the second frame you posted. One woman followed Anna into the store while another readied preparations and lay in wait in Anna's building?
The photos you see are from the security camera on the apartment building. Remember, they have additional photos from Ramstore, and sketches from eyewitnesses. One additional point, FSB agents are for the most part husky men. I have questioned others, and they cannot recall seeing a slender one, with Putin being the exception.
The false imprisonment of Yukos CEO Khodorkovsky, the murder of Politkovskaya, the poisoning of Ukraine president Yushchenko, the support for Belarussian strongman Alexander Lukashenko, the opposition to the Orange revolution, now this.
How many more people which attempt to inform the public about Putin will be ordered publicly murdered on Putin's orders, and how many more times will his disgusting defenders on FR continue defending this KGB killer?==
Util you PROVE your allergations with hard evidences. Putin has many enemies who could stage everything to compromise his reputation.
After all look who is beneficial from those things. It is the motives. Putin with his approval rate has no problem with anything.
You would say nobody are "proved" Stalin ordered the murders of countless victims as well. So what else is new Putin lover?

NOT ONE JOURNALIST MURDER HAS EVER BEEN PROSECUTED IN RUSSIA.
"All I am saying is let's wait on the speculations and not rush to judgement."
Sure what's the rush - the Kremlin only killed 100 million in the last century and we have yet to prosecute the first RUSSIAN THUG.
When do we get a Russian Nuremburg?
Top Central Bank Official Killed in Moscow
Still interesting. We don't see the kind of sensational murders here we read about in Russia.. at least they don't receive front page headlines.
KGB trained Zawahiri, says former agent==
I tell you more:). It was YOU trained Zawahiri, how about that?:) Same bla bla bla as of those "former agent" isn't it? With same credibility:).
Russian proverb says: "The tongue is without bone". It means that everyone may say everything whatever he can fantize. The problem is how he can prove his words.
You would say nobody are "proved" Stalin ordered the murders of countless victims as well.==
Here is your mistake. Accually there are many tangibale evidences that Stalin did order the executions and repressions.
Sure what's the rush - the Kremlin only killed 100 million in the last century and we have yet to prosecute the first RUSSIAN THUG. ==
So it was only Russians who are guilty of bolshevism? How about Ukranians. Are they accquited? Where you get that number 100 mlns? Why not 1 bln?
"Why not 1 bln?"
I'll go out on the limb on this.
Because - uh - we stopped Russia at Korea, Greece, Cuba, and Viet Nam?
DO NOT EVER POST TO ME AGAIN.
Because - uh - we stopped Russia at Korea, Greece, Cuba, and Viet Nam?==
Russia didn't do nothing there. But I'm really interested to hear your version about Viet Nam:). You so vague, whom you stopped there in 1973?:)
Otherwise, we have a saying in America: If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it is probably a duck. When I see all of the death surrounding Kremlin critics and then I see a former KGB turned critic lying in a hospital bed, I see a duck.

What if someone kills the critics of pres Bush? Will you think that it was Bush?
You simply do not apply the logic of motivation. Those Putin "critics" are simply the negiligible with all thier ctitics. Putin did savely ignore them whatsoever.
But as scapegoats to implicate him they has some values. The hard prove of it is how much the foreign liberal community got agitated now:).
"Russia didn't do nothing there. But I'm really interested to hear your version about Viet Nam:). "
Talk to your buddy Romanov - he spent 6 years in Russia interviewing Russians that killed our GI's in Nam (ask Garyspfc about that)

GI is general infantry? The foot soldiers? You mean that Russia sent her troops in Viet Nam to fight american soldiers? So funny:))
FYI Russia was reestablished only in 1991 but in 1960-70th she even didn't exists:). You need to go learn something. It is the same such ignorance of yours:).
I'm thinking the killer could have been a hired gun though, not FSB.
"You mean that Russia sent her troops in Viet Nam to fight american soldiers? "
PS - Gary , is it OK to write to you when you use the name "RusIvan"?

Gary is american but I'm russian. But you are paranoid:).
Anything you say , Romanov.
