I would read "Shake Hands with the Devil" by Roméo Dallaire -- who worked for the UN and Kofi Annan as the General in charge of the UN peacekeepers in Rwanda, who watched the genocide occur. The book is phenomenal and creepy all at once.

One of the best web sites is this one. It is an in-depth profile of the Rwandan genocide.

My opinion is -- this is the French' way of getting back at the Tutsi Kagame for overthrowing their allies, the Hutus -- who were incidentally the perpetrators of the killing of 800,000 people -- the French are, especially in this case -- evil incarnate and duplicitous beyond belief. They trained the genocidaires and did all they could during the genocide to keep the Hutus in power.

I had the pleasure and honor of having him and Paul Rusesabagina come down to campus and talk to the students. I even gott their signatures.

If these men weren't there, more would have been killed.
