The safety of any civilians who put themselves in harms way ought to be disregarded in favor of the successful completion of the mission. In other words if these priests and nuns put themselves on the bullseye I say bombs away! War is hell.
Human shields depend upon the basic morality of the Israeli soldier, who will not purposely attack an innocent.
But if you are putting your life on the line for a cold-blooded killer, you have forfeited your presumption of innocence. You are complicit in the crimes of the man you defend.
An Israeli will probably not hurt them. They are more fastidious than I would be.
Technically, not candidates for Darwinian recognition, because we can only assume they are not planning to reproduce, but potential Darwin nominees nonetheless.

True, but how can you justify destroying any entire family's house because of one bad family member? Do you have any kids? If so, what would you do if the authorities wanted to demolish your home because your kid did something criminal? In this case, the Israeli policy is morally wrong. It isn't as though these homes are filled with terrorists or weapon caches.
