'Wrong to blame one religion for problems'

DILSHAD AZEEM
ISLAMABAD - Chinese President Hu Jintao Friday appreciated Islamabad’s counter-terrorism efforts and said Pak-China friendship will continue to grow, as it is higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the oceans.
In his address to Pakistani nation live telecast by electronic media, the Chinese president talked about Pak-China relations, enlightened moderation strategy, agreements signed by the two countries and key position of the two countries in international scenario.
As he was given a warm reception at fully decorated Convention Centre of the federal capital, President General Pervez Musharraf conferred on Hu Jintao Pakistan’s highest civil award, Nishan-e-Pakistan, in recognition of his visionary leadership and contribution to strengthen Pak-China relations.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, governors, ministers, diplomats and other dignitaries attended the function, as the Chinese President was given a warm welcome by the people by standing on their seats and clapping repeatedly.

Hu Jintao said China will continue working with Pakistan to uphold the principles of UN Charter and the collective interest of the developing countries and promote democracy in international relations.
Pakistan and China, he said, are indispensable partners in the international scenario.
“Pakistan’s international standing is rising,” the Chinese president maintained while hailing Islamabad’s role in counter-terrorism and its efforts towards peace.
Expressing gratitude to Pakistan for its support to China in its critical times and opening its corridor for China in 1970 linking with the rest of the World, he said China would work with Pakistan against international terrorism and also to promote harmony and peace in the region and on the international level.
“We appreciate General Musharraf’s enlightened moderation to promote the cause of peace and harmony,” he said.
According to APP The Chinese President said the world has different cultures, civilisations, traditions social systems, values and modes of development.

However, he stressed that these differences should be rather seen as reflecting the vitality of the world.
“One should not make irresponsible remarks about the internal affairs of other country, simply because of differences among countries.”
“But it is equally wrong to blame a particular civilisation, nation or religion for some problems or conflicts in the world,” President Hu said in his address in Chinese that was translated into English.
He said that China is committed to promoting cooperation with Pakistan in various fields and strengthening Pak-China strategic partnership as the friendship between two countries is deep-rooted, higher than Himalayas, deeper than Indian Ocean and sweeter than honey.
The Chinese president said despite great hazards the Pak-China relations continued to further deepen.
“The friendship will further strengthen through our strategic cooperation in defence, security, economy, agriculture, education, IT, infrastructure, energy and other fields.”

Talking about Free Trade Agreement (FTA) the two countries signed and mega projects like KKH and Gwadar port, he said it will lead to a new era of relations between the two countries with promotion of our economic, trade and cultural ties.
“These projects are testimony to our relations.”
In his speech he announced that the Chinese government would offer 5,000 Pakistani youth to visit China in next five years in order to further deepen our relations and apprise the younger generation about our time-tested relations.
While appreciating Pakistan’s economic progress, he said Pakistan continued to make progress despite internal and external challenges and particularly the 2005’s devastating earthquake.
The Chinese president, recalling his first visit to Pakistan in 1984, said that there are visible changes worldwide but our profound relationship has a trend to further flourish with the passage of time.
Pakistan, he said, has a leading role in the region for harmonious relations. Let us work for further strengthening Pak-China strategic partnership for harmonious world, he added.

China, he said, intends to move ahead with regional development without harming the interest of anyone.
Earlier, General Pervez Musharraf said Pakistan and China have a glorious past of friendship that is based on great trust and cooperation. Pakistan greatly admires achievements made by China in various fields and we are proud of it.
Musharraf appreciated Chinese interest in Pakistan’s development, particularly Chinese assistance in developing projects such as Karokaram Highway and Gwadar Port.
He said the FTA signed today (Friday) will give a new boost to the Chinese investment in Pakistan and further developing our economic relations, hoping that it will create a win-win position for both the countries.
He said the scope of Chinese of investment in Pakistan is enormous and agreements signed today will lead towards development and prosperity of our people. The visit of the Chinese leader will open new avenues of potential development and will lead towards peace and prosperity of our people.
The president expressed the confidence that Pak-China relations will continue to strengthen in time to come and they will be evergreen because these relations are beyond the governments.

He said the peoples of both the countries have developed these relations irrespective of their governments through their will to continue to grow all the time.
“We are grateful for Chinese assistance in several mega economic projects. The Karakoram Highway and Gwadar Deep Sea Port are just two great symbols of Pakistan-China cooperation,” Musharraf said.
He said the FTA will quadruple our trade and will give boost to investments in Pakistan. “We also look forward to Chinese private sector taking advantage of the opportunities offered by Pakistan’s vibrant and reformed economy,” said President Musharraf.

"...the friendship between two countries is deep-rooted, higher than Himalayas, deeper than Indian Ocean and sweeter than honey."

Barf alert!! This is puerile nonsense, but typical of the inane rhetoric popular both among Communists and Islamists (who have much more in common with each other than they do with free peoples of the West).

'Wrong to blame one religion for problems'

Unless that one religion happens to be the one that hacks, tortures, bombs, kidnaps, beheads and burns people to death just because they're part of another religion.

Islam is SERIOUSLY twisted and warped!!!

IMHO, it's a Busido Code that managed to get religious status.
By killing anyone who said it was bogus.

It was developed by thugs in a desert instead of by thugs on an island.
