Point well-taken, altho I am sympathetic to Rudy's thinking here, i.e., running for senator (1) would put his presidential run at risk, and (2), would be a step down.

Fact 1: The Republicans do not have a clear, strong candidate that can effectively use a Reagan strategy to go over the heads of the MSM. Guiliani does not appeal to many conservatives despite his impressive record in combating crime and dealing with the immediate aftermath of 9/11. Essentially, a candidate must emerge soon in order to capture enough mind share over the next two years.

Fact 2: If she runs, the MSM will form a gauntlet around Hillary unlike anything we have ever seen. The smallest Republican misstep will be endlessly repeated while the largest Democrat scandal will be buried. We have not yet seen the lengths the MSM will go to to guarantee a Democrat victory. The argument is always made - Hillary will be shown in public forums and debates as the shrewish lier and Machiavellian power-mad dominatrix she is. I don't buy that. If she runs, she will be stage managed in such a way that will make Mother Teressa look like Barbra Streisand.

True... but there isn't a gauntlet large enough to cover her--if you'll pardon the mixed metaphor--baggage. The opposition will make the swiftboating of Kerry look like sandbox play.

In the end, she will be the agent of her own demise. (If she runs, she will, perforce, have to open her mouth.)

As for Giuliani, his strength is precisely that his appeal transcends party.

If missus clinton runs, and if Giuliani is the GOP candidate, conservatives, I believe, will be wise enough this time not to place a de facto vote for a clinton.

Their challenge in both the nominating process and the general election will be to put America's security ahead of doctrinal purity.

"I take it you have a decent computer."

Oh I how wish that were true..

One Caveat to my analysis, however, is this: if she decides to take up golf. Hillary as a scatch golfer ... well, my model cannot account for that variable - I would probably have to construct a finite element model, but my competencies there ... well, they are not good. :)

No doubt--golf is the subtext.
A confounding variable, and one of the goals of this arrogant power grab, is the clinton mulligan. ;)

... which brings us back to the fundamental question: Why would anyone want a clinton back in the White House?

<< Mrs. Clinton has held positions outside the government.

Does the Rose "law" Firm come to mind? >>

The loathsome and fearsome, dangerously-dullard, treasonous, recidivist, pathologically-lying-unindicted-co-conspiritorial co-serial rapist gangster moll, AKA Missus AKA: "Bruno") Cli'ton's role at Rose "law" was that of (brown paper) bag person.

Her only "work" there was to provide a quid pro quo channel to the definitively-corrupt Arkansas governor's office.

Doubt that?

Please list even one example of a successful -- or any other -- litigation ever conducted by her. (Hint: It'll be easier to find evidence of her "prowess" as a "futures' trader")

Ever since she left the White House, however, there's been a background noise following Clinton, like a persistent hum in a pair of stereo speakers: Hillary '08. Now, the formality of her reelection campaign out of the way, that noise will move to the foreground. The timing couldn't be more fascinating. For the past month, Clinton has watched as the Barack Obama boomlet has swelled. Part of the hype is media infatuation. Part is book-tour manipulation. But beneath the buzz lies a genuine public hunger for change, a fresh face, authenticity. Also feeding Obamamania, on the Democratic left, is a rabid desire for an antiwar 2008 presidential candidate.

These qualities are exactly Clinton's weaknesses. The complaint most often heard about Hillary, even from supporters, is that she has no principles other than ambition, that it's impossible to say what she stands for anymore.

... If Clinton now goes national, the challenge for the candidate and her massive organization will be to turn the unscripted Hillary loose now and then....

At 59, for the first time in her life, Clinton is rich, thanks to her best-selling autobiography.

... Big as it is, so far the Hillary machine has been impressively quick, efficient, and relentless. The flip side is that Clinton's superstructure also is at the core of her authenticity problems. Everything she does seems stage-managed.... Chattering-class talk that Hillary can't win growing ever louder? James Carville and Mark Penn write an op-ed for the Washington Post laying out why she can. Not that she's running for president, mind you.

THE WOMAN IN THE BUBBLE
After years of public trauma, Hillary Clinton is secure, triumphant, joyous even.
Is it worth giving up all that for the White House?

Hmmm... I dunno. Neither is a credible commander in chief....

Neither were Bill Clinton or Jimmah Carter.

But they don't think like you and I. It's about attaining power to control their agenda and nothing else.

Indeed....

but I would like to think the post-9/11 voter is a tad more discriminating when it comes to hiring the commander in chief. In fact, those two 'presidencies' argue for precisely that.

"... I thank you for this award, even though, in general, I think former presidents and presidents should never get awards.  I was delighted when Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize because I thought he earned it, and I thought it was great because he got it as much for what he did after office as when he was in office.  In general, I think that the fact that we got to be president is quite honor enough."

MISSING CLINTON AUDIO! 'Can we kill 'em tomorrow?'
(+Albright-Fulbright-Nobel TERRORISM revelations)
by Mia T, 4.24.06

Having failed to snare the Nobel Peace Prize by ignoring terrorism, clinton has apparently decided to intensify his America-bashing on foreign soil, the method employed by Jimmy Carter to great (if somewhat belated) effect. (The Nobel committee, sufficiently mollified only after 24 years of the peanut president's America-bashing, awarded Carter his 1978 Peace Prize finally in 2002.)

Meanwhile, back in the Senate, the missus, the other half of the clinton construct, maintains her hawkish pose (though not without
bird problems of another sort).

Yet another example of the clinton conflation ploy,
(see SCHEMA PINOCCHIO: how the clintons are handling the hillary dud factor), this variant allows "clinton, the construct" to hold two mutually exclusive positions simultaneously, thereby enabling the missus to avoid in '08 the trap that repeatedly ensnared the ever 'nuanced' Kerry in '04.

Do you now understand how stupid the clintons think you are?
