Nowhere, I just made it up. I'm saying we need to research all that.

He's a good balance of optimistic and realistic. That's what we need.

If he would just come out strong about doing something about illegals, then I'll officially jump the Newt bandwagon.

THAT, my friends...is why Newt would be difficult to elect.

McCain-Feingold is a clear violation of the First Amendment.

G.W. Bush played this tune in 2000, as well. But he ended up signing McCain-Feingold anyway.

No need knocking our guys. Why do the MSM's work?

Gee, how times have changed around here.

If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny.

It's still *possible* (although seems less likely now) that he felt the SCOTUS would render it unconstitutional.

Sorry, didn't read your post completely. Let's see what the polls say about Newt's popularity. Of course it's going to be very low with the Dems and the media, because he's a threat - so logical the liberals squirm. But middle America, those who aren't beholden to a party and pay attention, might see him more favorable.

Just thinking.

True, when Bush signed McCain-Feingold, he said it was unconstitutional and trusted SCOTUS would overturn it.

Which makes it even worse that he still signed it.

I think we have a right to be cynical and skeptical when politicians like Gingrich tell us words we want to hear, only after positioning themselves to run for office.

My choices for President in 08:

1. John Bolton

2. Newt Gingrich

3. Rudy Guilliani

All choices are based on the 2 most essential presidential qualities that have been missing for many decades: intelligence and courage

I mean, both of them have a book-deal scandal under their belts..

scandal?? The MSM calling Newt's book promotion a scandal, doesn't make it so. To repeat charges as accepted fact is happenning too much on FR. It sets a false premise and results in a lot of self defeating drible.

Again, why do the MSM work.

" I wish Newt were electable..."

The media and the late night idiots have succeeded in making Newt into a caricature ala Dan Quayle.
If only conservatives were allowed to vote, he'd probably win, but, his appeal to Indys and Democrats is probably nil, due to the Newt is the Boogey Man factor.
Newt has been able to articulate the president's positions far better than many in this administration.
He's articulate ,bright and can speak extemporaneously on a variety of subjects.
Newt's more realistic role now would probably be as the party's elder statesman.

Ok, I won't do that...but see post 58:

his appeal to Indys and Democrats is probably nil, due to the Newt is the Boogey Man factor.

That's the issue. Thanks to what the MSM has already done.
