Thanksgiving Weekend FReep A Success: Week 48 - Olney,MD, 11-25-06: Operation Infinite FReep

This Thanksgiving Weekend FReep was a success in several ways.

We out numbered the moonbats 9 to 8. Those in attendance include Cindy_True_Supporter (CTS), Fraxinus, GunsareOK, iMacMan (iMM), Justa A Nobody (Justa), Lurker Bill, (aka Bill from MD on Walter Reed AARs) and his daughter, [Mrs] Trooprally ([Mrs] T), and myself.

We also experienced our 'Indian Summer' on both Friday night at Walter Reed and here in Olney. Temps were in the low to mid 60s. GunsareOK was in his standard black short sleeve t-shirt.

As the FReep was winding down we had visitors from [Mrs] T's American Legion Post and from the local fire department. Small talk continued after we broke down in the parking lot and soon the Walter Reed Friday night dinners was the hot topic. The Fire Chief gave me a small donation to forward to Fran O'Brien's Aleethia Foundation fund for the wounded troops dinner.

The seed has been planted for a joint VFW - American Legion - fire department sponsored dinner for the wounded troops and their families in Olney. The fire department has a banquet hall above the engine room that is handicapped accessible. A local restaurant owner is also real supportive of the troops. Local entertainment for the troops was also mentioned. While this Christmas may be too close to plan for, everyone was extremely excited about the possibility of having the wounded troops and their families come to our part of this world.

I need to mention that the troops get a lot of support in Olney. It's just the local Friends Meeting House and affiliated anti-troop protesters that we rally against every Saturday. The fire department representative organizes a patriotic 9/11 Vigil every year. This past year we had about 80 people show up.

The moonbats are like cockroaches - we can't get rid of them. I'm just glad that we out number them most Saturdays. Thanks to all the FReepers you show up to help.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
