Firemen Turn on Police in Paris Demo
Spiegel Online ^ | November 22, 2006 | amb/AFP/dpa/AP

Firemen and police usually stand united as fellow civil servants. Not in Paris, where a stand-off between thousands of fire fighters and their police counterparts resulted in injury, property damage and chaos in the French capital.

A demonstration of firefighters in Paris turned violent on Tuesday. And vulgar. Police say fifteen officers were wounded and two are in serious condition after protesters hurled flares, street signs and other heavy objects at them. A police vehicle, another car and several trash cans were also set ablaze. Thirty-five firemen have been taken into custody.

Just a little info about conditions in France for those who wonder just why the Muslim yoots are allowed to run so wild. BTW, Sarkozy's word inadmissible is better translated into English as "unacceptable". Of course, when a politician call something unacceptable it means that he accepts it.

One should have seen the Fireman's Strike in Memphis, Tennessee, back during the summer of 1978. I was in the NG and the locals just about burned the downtown area with some of the environs burned also. Police stood back and let the diverse individuals run amok. Not a pretty site nor a pretty time.

France seems to swirling down the porcelain portal.

Maybe they will "storm the Bastille" on Bastille Day.

If of course, not everyone is on vacation.

In France, I'm sure these hooligan firefighters have no chance of being fired.

Citing eye witness reports, the news service DPA says some protesters were carrying beer or liquor bottles and were clearly under the influence.

Hmm...yes, I'm certain the gendarmerie will, er, get to the bottom of this...

I'm betting the fire fighters are just suffering from sleep deprivation because they are awake their whole shifts putting out car fires.

BTW, just what is it that Muslims have against cars anyway???

Uh, the Muslims had nothing to do with this riot. This was all about another implosion of French socialism - - the kind of socialism, complete with a fully unionized workforce, that the scumbag Democrats want to bring to the United States:

According to official estimates, roughly 6,000 professional fire fighters took to the streets as part of a protest to demand better wages, a premium for dangerous missions and a "decent pension" at age 55. The labor unions that organized the demonstration.... etc.

I had very minor issues with my first French teacher. Playful arguments.

Knowing what I do today, I would love to go back and fan those flames...

Probably not, although we all know there IS a state of Civil War existing in Washington, D.C., Detroit and other major cities mis-managed by the Libs.

A few more snippets from the article:

=========================

According to official estimates, roughly 6,000 professional fire fighters took to the streets as part of a protest to demand better wages, a premium for dangerous missions and a "decent pension" at age 55. The labor unions that organized the demonstration claim the number of protesters was closer to 10,000....

(snip)

...Several dozen fire fighters attacked security forces with flares, bottles, stones and anything else they could find, including street signs and traffic cones....

(snip)

One gendarme suffered a head injury from one of the projectiles, while another had his leg broken after being hit in the knee by a sledgehammer...

Have the Muslims take a page out of Bush's WOT handbook, turn the French against each other?
