Terri's Story
Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation ^ | December 3,2006 | Schindler Foundation

Posted on 12/03/2006 3:03:26 AM PST by 8mmMauser

Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.

Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.

Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the family’s dog, Bucky.

Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.

In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.

The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terri’s church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.

In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.

In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy – neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.

On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pasco’s Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.

>> the culture of death praised him and their media allies gleefully informed the world, "see he really does love her, it's not about the money to him."

The Schindlers made the same offer, to wit, "Keep all the money, just let us have Terri." Michael refused.

Come to think of it, that's a little like when Michael went to have Terri's cats killed. The vet asked him not to, and offered to find homes for the cats. Michael refused that too. "Kill them," he said.

Michael will feel right at home burning in hell with the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, George Tiller and Margaret Sanger.

He is consistent. The money he used to kill the cats was of the same money he used to kill Terri.

N.C. Bar Files Charges Against Duke D.A.

Every witch doctor in the country lectured us that it was wrong, wrong, wrong to intervene in the judicial process to seek a fair trial for Terri Schiavo. Stand by for the same witch doctors to shout in unison that it is OUR NATIONAL PATRIOTIC DUTY to intervene in the judicial process to seek a fair trial for the defendants at Duke.

He's not fussy who he kills so long as he doesn't have to work for the money.

It should be noted that the Senate and the House of Representatives and the President only 'asked' for a fair trial for Terri from the courts. The Courts refused. There was no intervention.

Terri's Legacy remains the stain on the blouses of the left which just will not go away. Hence, the howling at the end of this year as the lefties contemplate the year in review.

They simply cannot get away from it as if haunted by the truth behind the propaganda they spew although this focuses on poor Judge Greer.

We've also just endured a year in which an over-the-top television host was accused in court of contributing (via a nasty, unfair interview) to the suicide of a mother whose child went missing and who thus became natural fodder for that host's popular but grim show that features daily doses of vengeance and prejudgment on its menu. We experienced a collective moment of Zen when we learned that the icon of corporate greed, Enron's Kenneth Lay, dropped dead in his bathroom in the middle of the night, a la Elvis, just months before he was to be sentenced for fleecing billions. And we discovered that the judge in the Terri Schiavo case, who bravely followed the law, still gets hate mail. Wait, please tell me once again why O.J. Simpson can't go to jail if he confesses to killing Nicole and Ron?

Another example of how our distractors continue to be howling...

It is supposed to be cute.

.............................

It's set in the context of a teacher discussing with his adult students all the evidence that the Bush administration is as corrupt as they are incompetent. I took the liberty of writing in comedians and our favorite political commentators to play the students, so it's very funny despite how infuriating it is....

Snip...

"Teacher, speaking of creating opportunity," asked Whoopi Goldberg, "what do you make of the fact that Republican Senator Lugar told Al Franken: `The government can't create jobs'?"
"I'd like to make a noose of that fact and hang The Republican Party. They ought to just put up a sign at their headquarters that reads: `WE'RE USELESS AND WE HAVE NO IMAGINATION.'...

Snip...

...Like, with the Dixie Chicks. If Bush had half a clue about setting an example to the world about the beauty of democracy, not only would he have told the people to back off of them, his retort would have been: `I'm proud of my fellow Texans who have the character to honor America's most important principle.' Or like, with Terri Schiavo. If they genuinely believe that the federal government is morally obligated to usurp everyone else, then, fine. But how do they dare argue to the rest of us that we're immoral for thinking that sometimes it's necessary to decide if people get to continue living? What the hell do they think they were doing when deciding to explode bombs around civilians or when they execute those who might very well be innocent?"
"It would certainly be interesting to hear how he'd answer that himself. And he certainly deserves a special Presidential Academy Award for being able to keep a straight face when he said of Terri that `It's always wise to err on the side of life.'"

an amazing politcal (sic) parable to undo all of Bush's support

Who would have thought?

Jeb Bush takes the heat from this editorial in St. Pete Times for failing to stop a leak at the Florida Supreme Court. Just wow!

Might we detect a little touch of pique in Gov. Jeb Bush's decision to veto the money appropriated to repair a leaking wall at the Florida Supreme Court? After all, in a year when there was a large surplus of state revenue and when the repairs were clearly necessary, it is hard to fathom a legitimate reason for the refusal

Snip...

Interestingly, about that time Bush was steamed at Chief Justice Barbara Pariente because of something critical she had said in a speech about the state's underfunded foster care system - a statement she later retracted. Add this to the list of gripes Bush has had with the high court and the state courts in general. From the decision setting aside one of Bush's private school vouchers programs to the consistent judicial support given Michael Schiavo in his battle over his wife Terri's right to die, Bush has frequently had his agenda frustrated by the courts.

Playing veto politics?

A stem cell fantasy, bioethicking and all that...

Beyond this excerpt the person says some amazing things. Actually the bio is about Paul Abrams in the Puffington Host. But the next link (read more) is to Sue Bird. I am confused trying to wrap logic around this stuff. She is Sue Bird, meeting The Challenge of the UCONN. The pic is that of Paul, not Sue, but a pic of her can be found in the link.

I would, however, like to propose a different approach. One of the major problems progressives have faced, and one of the reasons their political support has eroded over the years, is that their beliefs in the "rationality" of their cause is reason to ride roughshod over peoples' deeply held sensibilities. The rightwing has done the same in spades: Terry Schiavo, the original hESC bills described above, Iraq, systemic corruption with a name "K-Street Project" and a website, suppressing the truth about global warming,,,,a record of utter contempt for the American people. [More on all this in another column].

These left wing coffee house blogs are over caffeinated, or laced with more heady stuff. Here is an entry also with pic and without obvious identification as to gender. However minor research discloses a real connection to the feminists, so I concluded it is primarily x chromosome, alas as far as I went in review. If I am wrong or if it is important hopefully someone will straighten me out.

For those who can take this kind of coffee so early in the morning, read on to the posts that follow.

...........................

On Josh's question, let me agree with everyone below that there is no single cause to Bush's (and the Republicans') drop, that the Republican juggernaut was overestimated, and that the bankruptcy of the non-reality-based community was waiting to be exposed. But if we get to give our hunches for what finally yanked back the curtain, let me give mine: Katrina & Terri Schiavo

Snip...

My other hunch is that the fact that that came after the Terri Schiavo debacle mattered. Once again, this wasn't some special, hard-to-unravel foreign mystery. Every American has an opinion about whether she or he wants to get to live or die in such a condition. The idea of having Congress decide--based on a few religious radicals' beliefs--was horrifying. Ordinary folks were still discussing what they wanted in such a condition with their families six months later, after Katrina. My sense is that that debacle blasted away confidence in not just Frist, who was clearly and cravenly lying when he said he could diagnose Schiavo's condition, but in the Republican Congress in general. Most folks don't have time to worry about SEC reporting requirements & the like. But the Schiavo debate was like Clinton and Monica: sickness and sex are things every citizen thinks she understands.

Schiavo also helped significantly in peeling libertarians away from the Republican coalition. But that's a topic for another day...

A surprise from a King, a thread by wagglebee...

Alveda King is not in that category. For her, the same principle of equal rights that condemns all acts of unjust discrimination against persons because of their race also implicates abortion. Just as she in her youth she joined her justly famous uncle and her lesser-known father, Rev. A.D. King (who was also a martyr) in protesting racial injustice, now she sees as the most pressing issue the abortions of 45 million unborn children since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion on demand in 1973.

Dr. King’s most arresting statement came in his "I Have A Dream" speech when called for people to be judged not by the color of their skin but "by the content of their character."

Alveda King, his niece, a minister and a former college professor, asks: "How can the ‘Dream’ survive if we murder the children? Every aborted baby is like a slave in the womb of his or her mother. The mother decides his or her fate."

Ah, poor Mr. Cohen, bravely speaking power to truth in the emperor's house organ. Why won't the country behave as he tells it to? It is so vexing.

Gary Amos made a far better legal point: that there is no "due process" in American law that can take the property, liberty and life of an innocent woman. But then, Amos wrote about constitutional history and law, not about the bravery of a rogue judge who tortured a helpless woman to death.

I like this kind of tunnel vision:

>> The idea of having Congress decide--based on a few religious radicals' beliefs--was horrifying.

The idea of having your homicidal spouse put you to death is evidently just fine.

Congressional intervention 1) occurred SEVEN YEARS later, 2) had a strong majority of BOTH PARTIES in both houses, and 3) had no effect on Terri's execution at all. None.

One question for these ding-dongs. If your spouse puts you to death, are you going to condemn people who try to save your life?

Hmm, you're onto something. I don't think the bleedinghearts, especially female, would be quite as swoony over Michael if they knew he murdered cats. I mean, it's one thing to bump off your mother, father and wife -- but YOUR CATS?!? The veterinarian even offered to take the cats and find homes for them, but Michael insisted on killing them.

He's like that.

The gentleman has a few fantasies of his own, such as the one where stem cells behave as he wishes instead of causing tumors all over the place, some of them malignant. If wishes were lollipops and stem cells acted as he wished they did, we'd all be disease-free by now! Unfortunately for his theories, embryonic stem cells have not produced a single reliable therapy. They did grow hair inside some guy's brain, but it didn't improve his appearance at all and it also killed him.
